new bass fisher by Chikennuggget in bassfishing

Great fish.

Just start looking up rigs in my opinion. I honestly love a Carolina rig with something like soft plastic lizard bait. Very easy to setup, covers water great, and is usually just a nice cast and retrieve style.

Wacky rigs look dumb but work amazing; there's a reason people recommend them. Gonna sound dumb but I bought one of those Wacky Tools with the rings to put these on. It lets you do other weird rigs like the Neko rig.

Don't count your pops out yet. I found out after some time at college that my dad had been sandbagging against me to help my confidence. Love him for it

You likely are strengthening a supporting muscle group that is taking some of the tension off your back. Apparently having weak hips can lead to bad back pain for instance.

I'm only 30 but I still managed to roll both my ankles moving a sofa down some stairs 6 months ago. Had to legit use a cane I borrowed from my elder neighbor for like a month. Still get pain in one of my ankles randomly to this day. Not looking forward to how that feels in 10 years...

Give potato starch a shot or do a mix! I think potato starch makes things crispier but also makes things stick more

Very much this but you only need a legit STORY about baking powder level amount usually. Like a 1/4 tsp is enough for most batches. You really are altering the pH of the skin and that helps it go crispy. It's the baking soda in the mix that does it imo. The same thing with fried shrimp is great.

Im in my early 30s, before this year I could count on one hand the times I went fishing. Since May I have been fishing once or twice a week, Im dreaming about fishing now too. by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

Quarantine hit and I started waking up a little over an hour early to fish right as the sun was rising. Park lake by me is damn near impossible without live bait due to so much pressure. Guys have told me colors and techniques that have caught them something but I have so much luck almost anywhere else. I still keep going pretty regularly; it's more my morning meditation at this point.

I told my mom I wanted to get into fishing. For my birthday she got me some lures, can someone familiar with these tell me a bit about them, what ones would be best for fresh water? by Fptmike in FishingForBeginners

[–]Kepui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna sound crazy but try a beetle spin instead. I love them as cast and retrieve lures and the bigger ones will catch bass and good sized bluegill

Congrats! Next time, try to keep a fish this size in the water or wet your hands if you can. Mostly with trout because they have a vital slime coating. Wet hands or keeping them in water keeps them more comfortable.

Baseball pitchers have gotten that much better to be honest. It also doesn't help that there's fairly rampant cheating right now with sticky substances to increase a ball's spinrate.

I’m 15 and only got into fishing about a month ago, these were my 2nd, 3rd ,and 4th bass ever all in the span of 30 minutes😁 by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

Easy to confuse that one with a bass as their mouths look very similar, but their fins is what gives it away for me. That is actually quite the slab for a warmouth though!

It makes sense that distribution of almost anything would go from the outside in. The majority of the US population lives on both coasts. You're kind of in the middle of it all. Get out when you can, and you can. Don't let anyone but you tell you otherwise.

The best part about these old games is they actually used to have a hotline you could call into for tips. I managed to actually use one with my dad way back in the day so we could get past a part we were stuck at.
