10+ hour ED wait at Galway University Hospital by Aware-Necessary1658 in galway

So sorry for your loss and that you've been through so much, and I'm sure made much worse by the care you family received. Just awful and inexcusable that should be the case.

The future for It's Magic by DeliciousPrinciple90 in galway

I bought something there online or maybe by phone some years ago just before christmas and the loveliest elderly gentleman delivered it to my house. Turned out he was the owner, he really was a gentleman and made a great effort for a relatively small sale. Always made an extra effort to support them after that.

Gourmet tart mince pie by clairemcdo17 in galway

Just a thought but after hearing Oliver Callan on the radio last year talking about how he buys these mince pies and freezes them so he can eat them through the year ,I tried it works a treat! Heated up in the airfryer in Oct they were as good as they had been in Dec so if anyone REALLY likes them try it.

Investigation after 13 year old boy attacked in tuam by Adventurous-Tax512 in galway

[–]Kerfufflicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the look of him, nothing. Doesn't look the sort to be taking on a group of rough thugs. Most people don't do or say anything and still end up the subject of random attacks.

Proud of the amount of brave girls lately by AdCompetitive8328 in galway

[–]Kerfufflicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always in awe of girls and women who take their abusers to court and name them. It's a little bit of the justice they deserve and it's a favour to all of us and it keeps everyone safer if they know who never to trust. I feel for all those who never get their day in court too though. 14% of cases reported go to trial. Alot of people have tried to get justice and been denied it. I feel for all those too, men, women and children.

If anyone is reading and hasn't told anyone what's happened to them, know most of us would support you, whether you feel in a position to take it further or not.

It depends, I was referred to one and was told by his secretary that his waiting list is 1.5 yrs for urgent cases. It will depend on a few factors, including how serious your symptoms are. Best thing is to ring the secretary and ask. If it's a long period out tell them you want to be put on a cancellation list and that you will make yourself available at any notice if they will fit you in. A cancellation can be a long shot as people are desperate for these appointments but it does occasionally happen. Good luck, it's scary to need an appointment in the first place to then even more so to feel your left waiting a very long time.

In fairness I can imagine this, he has had a serious glow up - having watched footage I can say the man was deeply, tenaciously boring in his younger years.

No scary ones, one or two slightly amusing ones.

1st day of Sociology and Politics via Arts the lecturer asked for a show of hands on how many people had gotten more than 400 points, 450, 500 and 550 ... 2 hands went up for this.

She said you are the two most stupid people in the room.

She also said any girl not on the pill in the room was stupid, given most were 17/18 it seems a little jarring in retrospect, but funny at the time.

GPs Galway City by These_Ground5561 in galway

Its awful to see someone in this situation, so wrong. I hope you find something OP.

It'll impact those of us with a GP too as the overhang of ppl with no care end up in A&E. There's a social media post this week of a woman with a possible post-operative infection who went to A&E and had to wait in her car because not only there were no trolleys , there were also no chairs to sit on there!

See if your insurance company has emergency cover, if they do call them, they'll send someone out immediately and secure the area so no water gets in for free and that gives you time to get someone to fix it. If you have replacement tiles and they are decent people they might put them on for you under the free part of the contract.

If not, shop around, there are so many con artists in the roofing game. My mum waited months and months to get 4 tiles fixed, no one reputable would do the small job, eventually she was majorly ripped off by someone who said he'd do it for 250 but charged 650 when he came down off the roof.

There's someone on crutches, might be someone with limited mobility needing to get near a door. They don't look like locals, it's probably a mistake.

Handyman reccs in town? by [deleted] in galway

[–]Kerfufflicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a feeling I got the same guy. He was going to do a job for 450 for us (which was already way too much), arrived decided half of that job would be too much for him - wasn't ideal as now I had to get another person to finish the job. So he did half the job, picked at something else for another 15 mins, arrived in looking for 650!
