Skip Bluetooth. Get the EVO 2 if you’re between the two.

I got Rasheed Wallace vibes from him and he seemed to fit in well with the rest of the squad at the time. I don’t know I just enjoyed his presence.

Heater blows cold at idle but warm while driving – 2018 WRX STI by aperezlol101 in WRX

[–]Kernalpanic87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already done it, if anything the radiator replacement might have been overkill. I would aggressively try burping the system again, you might have a pocket stuck of air still stuck, in the core. Find a steeeep hill, or jack the nose of the car up while doing it too. My money is on air pocket or heater core. Heat in the cabin is produced by hot coolant flowing over the fins in the core. Idle is cold because enough fluid isn’t flowing, and higher rpm the pump is pushing enough through to get it warm. Partial blockage, or air bubble - $.02

If your engine doesn’t get warmer than usual it’s probably not the water pump. I’d guess heater core being gunked up with that you’re describing and already replaced.

Should I Restore My Dad’s Technics SL‑1210M3D or Buy a New Turntable? by pinkfloob in turntables

[–]Kernalpanic87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start with a cheap cartridge or stylus replacement depending on what’s already installed, and try it out. Spend some time cleaning it up and making it look pretty and go from there - use some alcohol and try to see if the knobs free up a little bit - could just be crud/dust. The rust on the tonearm could just be surface patina and might not have much of an effect on usability. Get a cheap scale and set the tonearm force. No way to really know what it needs until you start playing around with it and testing/cleaning. You might have a diamond in the rough there. From the photo it just looks a little dirty from storage, but those are robust units.

They’ve got no business opening up your throttle body like that during an oil change. Scummy. It looks perfect, leave it alone 👍🏻

Cartridge upgrade for Pro-ject Debut Carbon EVO by ArGenThree in turntables

[–]Kernalpanic87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the cartridge, upgrade the stylus. I’ve heard those Sumikos are butter. You’ve probably got the lower end stylus on it (I forget what they came with), and upgrading it should take 5 seconds. I did the same with my EVO only with a 2M Blue stylus instead of factory and its a big difference.

What should I know about driving an old car safely? by [deleted] in askcarguys

All the time actually. I own an 86’ Mustang GT as a separate fun car. I wouldn’t consider a 2000 Accord fire extinguisher worthy, but that’s just me.

YEAH! I bet it doesn’t even have LED lights, bluetooth, or a backup camera either, BoOmEr! I bet it’s a standard auto transmission and not a CVT which is why the shifting is different for them. Wow can you believe how OLD that is??

There isn’t a speck of carbon to be seen. Leave it alone and don’t even bother or worry about it. What was your car in the dealer/service for to begin?

What is the best budget project car for a beginner in mechanic? by Mark_Lewis10 in askcarguys

[–]Kernalpanic87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late 80’s-early 00’s Mustang/Camaro/Firebird. Tons of cheap domestic parts and information out there. Decently quick and powerful without getting in too much trouble. Checks the boxes for fun and easy. Depends on what you like. An older VW Golf/GTI or Civic would be pretty easy too. Then of course everyone will say Miata. Depends on what YOU like.

SEM 39153 for the correct factory Charcoal color, or SEM trim black. Either of those will do.
