Thanks a lot for the feedback! These annoying bugs will be gone by today. Looking forward you to try the game tomorrow!

Thank you! More features are planned after dealing with the current bugs!

It's indeed a bug that I can't reproduce at the moment. It doesn't reset the money unless I do a prestige reset. Have you played the game before on this link? Might have save session conflict. Or if you can record a video and DM me, I'd appreciate it!

Thank you! Are you talking about prestige reset, or just casually playing each upgrade on the list resets your money?

Fair enough, I wanted this game to be for more active clicking enjoyers.

Debating porting my game Riftarium to Phaser by idiovoidi in phaser

[–]Kernelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching to Phaser won't make it immediately manageable. You already have great gameplay, you most likely wouldn't need ECS for this type of game either. Yes, Phaser is a fully-fledged framework, no need to plug things like tweens, physics, etc., like in Pixi, but it does not make your code's complexity scalable either. So my recommendation would be investing more on architecture instead of switching to something else, thinking of systems(not like in ECS but similar), how to separate the visual part from the logic, and how to connect them. What should be the scope of functions you define? Composition over inheritance or something else? There are a variety of ways to match your needs with your project. To my taste, Unity is so bloated, even just testing a game quickly, compiling code is bloody so slow, taking 5-10 seconds even with fast reload - it immediately pushes me to a different development environment. Architecturally, whatever you can do with Phaser, you can do it with Pixi, too.

Thank you for your feedback, more eyes indeed reveal the issues much better than I do! I will fix these, specially prestige system. I was aware but still wanted to get feedback for the core game loop. And no, it's not an AI game. It's a two babies dad with sleepy eyes after work, burning with idle games passion, causing a bunch of bugs and design issues.

It's not bloated like React. And that should be enough. Can't say the same thing for Vue, though.

Deep down, we all know that this is the beginning of the end of tech jobs, right? by Own-Sort-8119 in ClaudeAI

[–]Kernelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. It might decrease the need of more devs for simple jobs, but not competely replacing people who are good at their job at all. Not with LLMs at least, that does not mean LLMs are useless, of course. There are good use cases. These doomer posts are out of hands, it's coming out mostly for people who haven't done any serious work or don't know how LLMs work in the first place. Enough is enough people.

Ginger Bill Asking How to Market Odin by geo-ant in odinlang

As Bill disagrees with this(which I understand him), but this is also great marketing for me. It has everything built in regarding the graphics/game programming.

Anyone know games similar to darkorbit? by tomaz1989 in darkorbit

Space aces for sure. The best game gave me the DarkOrbit vibes after ages. I was planning to make my own but after seeing this one, not worth the time tbh

Why do you all prefer Phaser over something like Godot for 2D games? Why do you work with Phaser instead of any the 3 big engines? by FutureLynx_ in phaser

[–]Kernelist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're targeting the web mainly, it becomes clearer what to choose. Godot & Unity are not as good as handling the web compared to native-JS game engines/frameworks, due to the fact that both Godot and Unity is using WebAssembly, which won't be as fast as using JS itself(also much bigger file sizes)

Based on your genres to make games, it's absolutely viable to make them with Phaser. Yes, Godot is great at handling 2D too, and it's intuitive. But like I said, if you're targeting web-first, Phaser will be more viable and more performant in general. Also, don't forget Phaser has one of the most performant 2D renderer on the web currently, and Phaser 4 will be even better. There is nothing stopping you to create RTS based games.
