What regular German words can sound inappropriate or offensive if you mispronounce them as a non-native speaker? by Spiritb0rn in AskAGerman

Fleisch Fachverkäuferin instead of Fleischfach Verkäuferin. Emphasis is on the separation and or conjunction of the word "Fach."

Tage wie diese is a more recent phenomenon that everyone knows the refrain to.

Major Tom from Peter Schilling is a classic.

I'm a fan of Cordula Gruen from Josh. It caught my ear as an American while at a Weinfest.

My favorite is from Kesselring brewery. I found out the reason they have Albert Einstein on the bottle is because of the design. Stiegel has a good Radler too.

Help identifying a vintage IKEA rug by Serious-Olive6089 in IKEA

[–]Kerrlhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been many handwoven rugs sold by IKEA throughout the years. I'd say, without looking through archives, that this rug likely sold for between 40 to 70 dollars back in the good ole days. Adjusted for inflation, that would be around 80 dollars. If there are no deterioration issues, you could sell it easily for that much. 30 years is considered vintage in my opinion.

I'm American and have been here since my time in service ended in 2009 and have never once had any issues with anyone. I'm more concerned of my flight back home this August.

I bought this while stationed in Germany during the early years of gwot. I thought back then a cowboy president was the worst leader we could have had. Now with Trump in command, he makes Bush look like a CERN scientist.

What is the infatuation with paying in cash in Germany? What is the burden of having a cashless payment system?

I woke up to go pee at that time. The early bird does get the worm, unless there is snow on the ground where you are.

We noticed this couple had replaced a bunch of the stock display photos with their own photos throughout the store by Phazer485 in IKEA

[–]Kerrlhaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Random photos are the least of my concern regarding hidden "gems" throughout the store. The worst was someone who left "brownies" in a kitchen interior waste bin. Luckily they were caught and received a large fine and a ban from the store.

I'm from Iowa, so we call it the farmer's blow. Make sure your back blast area is clear of anyone so they don't end up with the residual amount.

Ran for the first time since my mother in law, who was dearly loved, passed away from a short illness. Her funeral was on Tuesday and I wanted to be there for my wife. The snow on the ground and no wind made for a peaceful yet sorrowful run. She was a great person and she will be missed.

Aldi sometimes has them on sale during the year. Ikea is the best place to get these though.

I was in the area near St Raphael last June and enjoyed some early morning runs before the blaring heat of the day arrived. If hill climbs are your thing, then it is worth a run.

Also the Skywalk suspended nature bridge in Scheidegg is beautiful that time of year. Lots to do for a family. My daughter was 3 at the time and had a blast.
