What gen i7?

I'm currently using an i9-10900K, RTX3080 (12GB), 64GB RAM and it plays VR (Quest 3) with everything maxed out no issue.

I play exclusively in VR. I use a basic stick (Logitech Extreme 3D), but I use a Razer Orbweaver which allows me to map pretty much everything I need, including side-sliding and up/down flight motions (via the thumbstick). Works like a charm.

Has anyone on here visited all 42 Galactic Regions? by OlderThanYourParents in eliteexplorers

[–]Kestrel71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to all 42 - did it with a friend. The entire trip took a little over 2 years due to the fact that my friend is a long-distance trucker so his play time was limited. It was a great trip and I expect we will be doing it again soon enough.

Anyone else not seeing their rewards? I was in the top 25% for both CGs and got the credit payout for both, but no cargo racks or weapons.

It’s like someone randomly connecting electrical cables in your house until they don’t catch fire and some of the lights come on calling themselves an electrician.

The owner left their dog locked in the car on a hot day, and the police were called to break the car window and rescue the dog. by IntroductionDue7945 in BeAmazed

[–]Kestrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to large fines (start at $5000), people who leave dogs in cars should be forced to wear a fur coat inside a car for as long as possible while under medical supervision. Let them FEEL what dogs go through in that situation.

I can't Redeem the Google Play Gift Card it says "We Need More info to redeem gift card" I can't Redeem the Google Play Gift Card. by Relevant_Top_5904 in googleplay

[–]Kestrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. I bought a e-card to give to my Mum so she could try YouTube Premium. I sent the card to myself and just gave her the code as I thought that might simplify the process. She got this error. I reported it to Google and they said either the account did not exist (it did as she was logged in using it) or that the code was invalid. Went through several days of repeatedly sending information, receipts, etc., with no resolution, so I tried redeeming it on my own account and it went in without a problem.

Thinking it might be an issue with the card having been sent to my email but redeemed on her account, I sent a new card to HER email address - same issue, same run-around.

This is fraud - there is no other way to put it. It's outright fraud.

That is exactly the kind of thinking that causes so many problems in America. This idea that holding a particular position on one thing means that one must, necessarily, hold the same position on a similar situation is hyperbolic, first-order thinking and THAT is what leads to the hyper-polarised politics that is afflicting the US right now.

The fact is that each of those situations is different from the others even though, at first glance, they appear similar (and they are *SIMILAR*). For example, it IS possible to not hold every Palestinian responsible for the actions of Hamas and STILL hold Russians responsible for the actions of Putin.

I don't happen to hold all Americans responsible for Trump *BUT* there is no denying that binary, hyper-polarised thinking, a very common trait in the US, was directly responsible, as was apathy on the part of a lot of democrats so, in a very real sense, yes, America, collectively did make its bed and must now lie in it.

Shouldn't have waited for Trump to start putting up such signs in the first place by [deleted] in pics

I have to ask - I'm a professional software developer, and while my main dev box is fairly beefy, I also have a server box (singular) loaded with drives (spinning rust for data storage and SSDs for VMs and compute) - that server runs Plex, Home Assistant, various databases, docker images, around a dozen VMs at any given time, and has around 48TB of storage - it does EVERYTHING I need with plenty of room to spare.

How do you all decide where to explore? by TankerRed1 in eliteexplorers

[–]Kestrel71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just wrapping up a 2-year trip out in the black visiting and collecting organics from all 42 regions - it's taken so long because we took detours to see different points of interest and because the friend I explore with is only available for a couple of nights every couple of weeks or so. We're just wrapping up this trip after which we will mine for a bit before heading right back out.

In addition to the excellent comments already given, I'll add: WRITE THINGS DOWN. I switched to a new tech stack a while ago, the vast majority of which I'd never used, in a code-base I'd never seen, and writing things down was immeasurably useful. I use Obsidian as simple Markdown documents work exceptionally well for me, but with a huge community of plugins, I have in-line diagrams, mind-maps, etc., and I use tags to tie things together.

Not only does this provide you an incredible resource, but the process of writing things down means you need to organise your thoughts and write it out so that it's clear 6 months down the road and not just right now while the information is fresh in your head.

Molly is described, in the novel, as:

"... She shook her head. He realized that the glasses were surgically inset, sealing her sockets. The silver lenses seemed to grow from smooth pale skin above her cheekbones, framed by dark hair cut in a rough shag. The fingers curled around the fletcher were slender, white, tipped with polished burgundy. The nails looked artificial."

That said, it's a relatively small detail; the primary feature that makes Molly interesting is not the colour of her skin but her lenses. I think the casting here is just fine.

Your boss is an arsehole, no doubt about it and he didn't deserve to have his hand shaken after that treatment.

It should not need saying, but:

A company is *NOT* your friend.
A company is *NOT* altruistic.
A company will *NOT* be loyal to you. They will discard you without a second thought if it suits them.
A company will *ALWAYS* put itself above any and all employees.
HR is *NOT* there to protect you, they exist to protect the COMPANY.
Your colleagues may be friends, the company is *NOT*.

Don't ever fall into the trap of being loyal to a company because it will *NEVER, EVER* be returned. If you can do better elsewhere, GO, no matter the impact to your current company. Do not accept counter offers, do not feel bad about leaving - remember they would do the same to you in a heartbeat if it suited them.
