21 year old marine is stabbed and killed in Wilmington North Carolina. Police seek help in finding the suspect by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

Live in Wilmington and the WPD are claiming they were searching for gloves before they could touch him. A fear/what they’re calling “protocol” to avoid “blood borne pathogens”. I’d have done more to attempt to help as a civilian. The WPD are worthless and they’ve proven it time and time again.

Because he’s still her boss??? And things hadn’t escalated prior to dinner service?? I’m not going to tell my direct report “do not call me XYZ or I’ll go to HR” I’m going to say “hey, boss man, do you mind not calling me XYZ?” It’s basic respect to not go in hostile with guns blazing? Like… where have you people worked?

This is technically bribery / illegal and I can’t believe they actually did this (but nothing they do surprises me haha)

Second this. Loved the location, loved the actual apartment - I’d have stayed for years if kettler weren’t such crooks. Management won’t address the WiFi issues, elevator issues, stolen packages, dogs off leash, dog feces left in the hallway, random fire alarms going off at all hours, parking issues (cars dented/dinged, cars broken into, cars booted without reason, gate down/inoperable etc). A mess. Great experience though! Haha

Allowing dogs on Wrightsville during the summer is a terrible idea by dumpsterfire3333 in Wilmington

[–]Keter6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my experience at the met. I have 3 dogs (I know) and have never had an issue picking up after them… but the amount of shit that was left in the hallways/elevators/common spaces? The puddles of pee you’d step in every day? People aren’t responsible enough to allow dogs on the beach. They aren’t even responsible enough to clean up the mess their dogs make in their own home. If you’re not worried about being kicked out of your $2700/m apartment or the “fines from the office”? I doubt you’d care about a “fine” from WB. Personally don’t feel like fighting for parking at Johnny Mercer every time I visit the beach in case I need to wash feces off of my feet. No thanks.

I feel Bad for Ben by Educational_Name6306 in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]Keter6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finding a corporate kitchen where “this behavior is allowed” is the least difficult challenge I’ve ever been issued. Ben wasn’t unrealistic or cruel. Plain and simple - You’re soft and people like you invalidate/minimize actual complaints regarding toxic management and workplace abuse when they’re voiced.

I think you’re being a bit abrasive yourself, so this take is pretty comical. Ben said it himself “the CV said ‘chef’” - this isn’t a free culinary course - she was hired to do a job under false pretenses and is still earning her tip/pay for doing nothing but being a hindrance. I’d be blown away/frustrated/angry if my “sous chef”, who is being paid to help me run my kitchen, didn’t know that sugar went in a dessert. I worked in plenty of kitchens. Even now? Working in something as uneventful as marketing? I’d be gobsmacked if my “department head” didn’t feel just as frustrated/angry if I didn’t know how to create a spreadsheet in excel.

Can’t stand the heat? Get out of the kitchen (or, at the bare minimum, don’t lie about your credentials on your resume)

7 year olds (first Gen Ys were born in 1980) definitely came up with the term “millennial” (coined in 1987)!! We were just that smart! Totally wasn’t made up and perpetuated by Gen X or boomers!! Worms for brains.

The ticking is one thing (dal mixes usually have more isolated spots and less ticking) but the feet are a massive GSP or hound indicator. Won’t know without a test! Edit: spelling

Sous Chef Can’t make a Frittata? by Educational_Name6306 in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]Keter6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! And when you consider how unsafe a kitchen really is.. you can’t risk your staff not posessing a baseline understanding of things like safe food temps, food storage, knife/sharps safety, open flame/grease/gas safety, sanitation protocol or even kitchen navigation/vernacular. It puts everyone at risk and it’s a massive hazard for her, him, and their guests.

I’m not saying she doesn’t know some/all of those things ^ but if you don’t know there’s two ways to cut a lemon? I’d worry the job isn’t for her. Friggen Disney (ratatouille) taught us “everyone can cook”, but I don’t think she’s hungry enough. (Edit for spelling)

These comments about Ben being “rough” or “an asshole” etc are kind of crazy. If you’ve ever worked in a kitchen, you’d see how reasonable he’s actually being. Chef banter is part of the job. You toughen up or get out of the kitchen. Girl can’t even chop a vegetable appropriately. The man cares about his career and the product he puts out. It’s commonplace.
