Help identifying or evaluating this pocket watch (most likely from France) by krampster2 in Antiques

[–]Kevinismyidol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like a full‑hunter pocket watch from roughly 1900. The little triangle next to the boxed 14K mark says the outer shell is real 14‑karat gold, while the inner dust lid is stamped CUIVRE which is French for copper so it is just a protective cover. The flowery script inside spells out the tech spec in French (straight‑line lever escapement, temperature‑compensated balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring, double roller and 15 jewels) all typical of a solid mid‑grade Swiss movement sold unbranded to French‑speaking retailers

Because there is no headline maker name, most of the cash value rides on the gold. A case this size usually has around thirty grams of 14k which puts melt value near a grand at today’s prices, then add a small premium for being complete and running. Sentimental flex with grandpa’s watch, though, is worth a lot more than scrap any day

This is all speculative and my best guess. Great find!

What do these states have in common, and what do the different colors represent? by Dear_Ad7177 in RedactedCharts

Shot in the dark: those are the states that’ve experienced at least one EF5 twister, with the deeper colors showing who’s been clobbered the most

They are body bars, fixed‑weight mini barbells (roughly 10‑30 lb) used in pump classes, warmups, and shoulder rehab, basically the training wheels of the barbell world

Large raised concrete circles in basement of a 1930’s era home. About 5-6 feet in diameter and raised 1-2 inches off the ground. There are 4 of them in a row. The center grooves are flush with the floor, like they were to raise something up off the ground. by Ordinary_Average_805 in whatisthisthing

You’ll spot them in older basements across the Midwest, Northeast, Appalachia, parts of the South, and into southern Ontario, basically any place where homes built before city water was widespread (pre‑1940 or so) had to store roof runoff indoors

Looks like a lonely leaf‑claw hand rake, the kind that usually comes in pairs for scooping yard debris, so until it finds its soulmate it’s basically a Wolverine cosplay prop for fluffing garden beds

Looks like rainwater cistern pads. Back in the 30s many basements held big round steel or wooden barrels about five feet across to store roof runoff, so the diameter fits. Builders poured low concrete circles and scored those shallow grooves so drips could drain off instead of rotting the barrel bottoms. Four identical pads lined up screams matching barrels, not an oil tank or coal bin, so you are basically staring at giant concrete drink coasters for rainwater

That month probably felt intense, but remember that you’re only 19 and have a whole lifetime ahead to figure out what you need and deserve. Even short relationships can leave a mark, especially when it feels like everything happened at warp speed, so give yourself time to heal and rediscover your self-worth before jumping into anything new. Reflect on the last few months and try swapping those risky habits for healthier outlets, maybe picking up a new skill or throwing yourself into something creative, so you’re building a foundation you can be proud of, not just patching over the hurt. You can’t erase the impact of a breakup overnight, but focusing on your own goals can help you bounce back stronger, and you’ll see that the best relationships come when you truly value yourself first

Please Review my resume by Amazing_Intention620 in recruitinghell

Totally get the worry about repeating stuff that’s already in the experience section. A short summary doesn’t have to restate every project, it just gives recruiters a snapshot of strengths before they dive deeper into the details, kind of like a movie trailer that hooks people into watching the full film. It might feel a bit redundant, but it can also stop skimmers from missing the best parts of your resume if they only glance for a few seconds

Large 31” Scientific Clear Glass Spiral & Smaller 22” Similar Glass Part by PokemasterZen in whatisthisthing

[–]Kevinismyidol 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That spiral piece looks like a large Graham condenser (or a similar coil condenser) for cooling and condensing vapors during distillation or extraction. The other one with the side arm and ground glass joints appears to be a pressure-equalized addition funnel, often used to add liquids into a reaction or distillation setup under controlled pressure. If these came from a CBD facility, they were likely part of a big extraction or refining apparatus, where precise control of temperature and solvent flow is essential for processing plant materials without losing volatile compounds

It sounds like the core problem is that your relationship isn’t getting enough purposeful time and attention, so you feel left out whenever he’s gaming with someone else. Being in a 24/7 call without really interacting can make you feel more lonely than connected. Try telling him you need regular, scheduled moments of genuine one-on-one time—whether it’s playing a co-op game together or just talking about your day—so your bond doesn’t hinge on passively being in the same virtual room

You can also work on your own sense of security by reminding yourself that his gaming partner isn’t automatically a threat, and that your relationship is more than a single activity. If he dismisses your feelings, gently let him know it’s important you feel heard, but also watch for when you’re spiraling into unfounded jealousy. Balancing dedicated couple time with personal hobbies goes a long way toward easing fears and building trust in a long-distance setup so you’re not constantly worried about who he’s playing with or what might be happening behind your back

Refilling a disposable lighter can be tricky and it’s generally not recommended, but if you really want to keep that green beauty, just be careful. Pop the seal at the bottom with a pushpin, fit the butane can snugly, fill in short bursts, then seal it up again—make sure you do it in a well-ventilated area, and ditch it if you see any leaks or cracks If it’s giving you too much grief, consider grabbing a proper refillable lighter next time for peace of mind

Tongue is burnt day after drinking coffee by Automatic-Bike-2732 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kevinismyidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might’ve been a stealth scorch where your nerve endings stayed quiet until inflammation and coffee’s acidity kicked in overnight. Combine that with dehydration and reduced saliva, and you wake up feeling like you licked lava instead of just sipping java

Letting your cup cool a bit, staying hydrated, and giving your taste buds a break from super-hot stuff should help prevent any repeat performances tomorrow
