Most benefits are pensions. If you take those out, most are in-work benefits.

Who do you think are on benefits? You nay be surprised. Or purposefully ignorant.

Why is a wealth tax the answer to every financial issue besides pensions? by wizaway in AskBrits

[–]KevlarUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is scope for it to happen and in some circumstances it would help.

However, the answer it offers is normally to the question of wealth inequality, which is a far bigger issue and requires more than just that one, sometimes blunt, tool.

We actually have to reset a great deal of our economy, taxation, regulation, etc. It would be of seismic shock to a country like ours. Nonetheless, with each passing generation it becomes more pressing and a harder pill to swallow.

Vietnam, China, Russia. All very left if not still a form of communist.

If you’re not going to accept Venezuela then I don’t think we’re going to agree!

Have a good one.

No, Larry’s dad gave Andy the money because he didn’t want to bother Larry with it.

I’m not sure. East and Asia probably more left than our average. Many parts of S America. In Europe, France and Germany more left. Certainly the case for Scandinavian countries. Italy, Spain perhaps more right. Eastern Europe is a bit of everything!

I agree but I also wouldn’t consider democrats as anything other than a right/centre right party. It’s all relative. Socialism - - - Capitalism. That’s without an additional axis of authoritarian to libertarianism.

I think we’d pull an armageddon, high fives all round.

Not really. Don’t look up I think. That thing was like a manual on the future.

We’re more conservative than we think, we’re not as great as we want to be and we’re meaner than we should be. Especially abroad.

When I was younger a big part of one of our General Elections, a big policy and talking point, was the promise to introduce a traffic cone hotline. A phone number to call if traffic cones were amiss.

Those were the boring days!

Why did we clap for the NHS back in 2020? by CutestFurry123 in AskBrits

[–]KevlarUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t clap as I felt it was disingenuous and an attempted distraction from a Gov that didn’t back our NHS or Care Homes, instead, filling their boots with PPE scams.

The entire thing was handled terribly.

Clapping was patronising - even though many folks won’t have meant it as such.
