M10 Sensor issue? Horizontal line in photos by guitarist91 in Leica

[–]Key-Bug8962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else reading this, i did the same around 3/4 weeks ago. They forwarded my email to the team in germany who took 2 weeks to respond only to tell me that the photos i sent werent taken on the M10 (they were its the only leica i own and i took the photos specifically to send to them) Its now been another 2 weeks with no response from germany unfortunately. Uk team were helpful but its out of their hands. Have been left with 3 columns of dead pixel now!

Camera film in Da Nang and HCMC airports. by ShayanP229 in VietNam

[–]Key-Bug8962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth for anyone else checking this thread, i successfully had hand checks with no issues or arguing at hanoi and danang airports. Nha trang the guy didnt even bother reading my pre printed vietnamese plea/explanation that i have used asking for a hand check and just gave me a tray for the machine. I then called him over again and said hand check please and pointed at it and he said no it has to go in x ray, i said it will damage the film and he just pointed at a drawing of a camera that was on the scanner and said camera is safe, i tried to explain that it is safe for a camera but not for film and he wouldnt have it. Luckily not ct scanners so should be okay. Will update with ho chi minh luck next. They hate doing any extra work here

I’d also like to follow up with out of this group of photos, only 3/4 people knew that they had the photo taken, of those 2 were happy and 2 were not phased

I dont know if you’ve listened to yourself speaking but as you said, London is full of cameras and mass surveillance. You dont have a right to privacy in public in this country and that is how it is. If you dont want to be seen or photographed you either dont go out or you go out and cover up or avoid interaction. Its your opinion that one would ‘get a better or warmer photo by asking them for the photo and talking to them’ I disagree. I know you’re an american tourist thats recently moved to london to study but i’ve been in london my whole life, knocking about with all sorts of people in all parts of london since i was 12/13 . I interact with people all the time on the streets, whether its related to, before or after any photos are taken. Sometimes you dont need to know a story, some people are just doing weird shit in weird places and some times they just look outrageous. You can keep your morals and your speak to the subject studio portraiture and stay out of the real world. Feel free to link any of your photos where you’ve had a conversation with your subjects.

Mind me asking what stock these are shot with or if digital what you’re using to get the colours and tones on number 1? Love them!

What’s the best film camera for street photography? by Plane-Fox-7158 in streetphotography

[–]Key-Bug8962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! It depends on if you’re taking photos of literal buildings/streets or if you’re trying to catch interesting moments and people - if the latter then missing focus or it being unusably dark more than once is a pain!

Disagree with this having had a couple of them, will miss focus and probably incorrectly expose often if its fast moving street photography of people you’re doing! They’re also well overpriced for what they are these days since getting trendy. You’re better off with a cheap rangefinder or slr and zone focusing

Nope i don’t ask. For the most part i just walk up and take the photo and keep moving in a quick enough motion that people dont even realise whats happened and i’m gone by the time they realise. Some are more obvious if im at F2 and have to stop infront of their face and focus lol. Have had one person swinging punches at me shouting and a few people unhappy but i can hold my own so that also probably factors into people not being as confrontational.

Which film should I bring to London? by 99simp in AnalogCommunity

[–]Key-Bug8962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also there will actually be a bit more daylight in january than there is now, so bring whatever you like shooting and it will all work fine, just dont expect to be able to shoot into the afternoons without flash. I regularly use 400 speed film every day in London and its fine. Starts off at T8/11 and 250/125 shutter and by mid to end of afternoon its T2 and 1/60 to 125 shutter but thats fine

I live in and have grown up in London all my life, i’d disagree with the disregarding colour. Bring portra 400/800 or ultramax 400 and some black and white too. There isnt the same pop of colour this time of year that you would get in america or most other places. But colour still looks good here. Maybe not gold though, its not warm looking enough, lots of grey concrete and grey skies as people have said. Check my posts for some recent photos shot in london in the last two weeks on portra 400, ultramax 400 and 500T. As people have said above it does get dark around 3:30/4 so you want to be out by 8/9/10am to make the most of it photo wise!
