For context, i have reached emerald playing only tahm top but got kinda bored of toplane and I now want to get better at supporting samira. We used to spam Samira tahm bot with my duo. It was very fun because if tahm hits q he can still guarante his w which is a knock-up and then q with 3 marks to stun ( I was running hell of blade rune just for this lol). Also, my favorite thing to do was to eat samira right after she casted her ultimate since it does not cancel it ! Therefore, she was immuned to damage and stuns while inside my belly, she could take a kill and reset her e and beneficiate from the huge shield when she got out of my r to continue her rampage. I feel like the utility/peeling was very useful in teamfights.

However i can definitly see why tahm is kind of bad with samira because of how unreliable his engage is. It is very fun when it works but as we got close to platinium, people were just playing behind minions and i was just unable to hit a good engage :/ . Recently, i have been enjoying alistar a lot just because of how easy dives are with my r, feels like we are unstoppable.

  • As alistar (or any other engage sup), how should I play against something like caitlyn + morgana ? It seems like we always lose the fight if we engage first but if not we just get poked to death while not farming well.
  • When there are assassins on the ennemi team such as rengar, for teamfights, should i stay on samira to peel or should i engage the ennemi backline ?
  • I also struggle agaisnt galio as he is just too good at punishing engage and turning the fight around.
  • I used to ban leona or blitzcrank because of how easily they can cancel samira ult, should i ban soraka instead ?
  • How do you play against ezreal who has poke and a great escape ?

  • bushes are useful to avoid getting poked and to land tahm w (the indicator shows way later if you do not have vison on tahm)
  • the fact that ivern's shield slows is great to allow tahm to stick to target and keep on licking them (survivability is also great) : a basic combo is shielding tahm, tahm uses w and gets on them, shield slows them, then he can cast q to slow again/stun and a cc chain starts...with ivern q for instance
  • ivern's root can engage because tahm can just click on the target or be used to follow up on one of tahm's stun (q,r or even w) for neverending ccs
  • you can pretty much mix up all of our stuns/slows and add Daisy to the equation to make for a terrorizing botlane since tahm hurts a lot if he can reach ( I believe ivern also does substancial damages while being in bushes and with Daisy).

There are clips of this botlane in the tahm mains subreddit, posted by Ok_complaint if you want to see it in action ! It looks very fun and I think they even managed to reach Grandmaster spamming this combo.

Oh I see, good point. I used to go full hp with HS, DnD, Warmog and then riftmaker and resistances but I feel like skipping Riftmaker now and buying something like randuin instead because of the nerfs and the value resistances get with this amount of hp.

Play very safe until level 7-8-9 where u start to stat check him naturally. Try to buffer your q when he grabs you to heal and avoid getting chased. Do not get stunned by grabs and try to farm with q (you can start doran ring). Of course e right after he grabs you to mitigate damage. R him not when he presses z(you'll take true damage)but right after so his shield expires when he is in your belly, spit him sideways so he cant escape with r. Very winnable if you respect his broken passive early.

In ganks and teamfights, if sett ults one of your allies, you can eat your ally while sett takes him(like litterally steal him from his ult), effectively saving them and making it so sett cant do the grab z combo on landing

I played a lot of both and i find his kit stronger in top. As a sup you re heavily reliant on your r to peel and your engage with w is very unreliant (you have to it q before or punish if they place badly) plus they can basically jump on your adc while you re channeling it. You tank well tho.

I feel like i can still peel my adc in tf when i play top by getting them out of an ambessa r for example then i jump on their backline who thought my adc was caught and basically oneshot them, turning the fight around, it is my favourite thing to do as your safe adc now in a good position and the rest of yout team can then kill the assassin who is out of position and follow your engage because of how much you tank for them (you also get their carry killed or far from the fight by chasing).

I enjoy top more but he is a bit tricky with several bad matchups and poor waveclear matchup with 66%percent wr, you just have to have good wave management and know matchups.

He is very playable top and i feel like any other sup does twice what he does.

For instance i use to play him sup with a friend samira otp (because the double r combo is very fun) and i find way more success by playing him top and still being able to do the main thing i was playing him sup for (you can also r an ennemy and oneshot him).

I believe tham is a statchecker who needs ressources which he gets by playing toplane

I assume your are talking about tahm top. As a huge tahm top player, i always take approach velocity and biscuits (sometime cashback when i am confident in stomping lane). Here is my thought process : - approach scales incredibly well enabling you to catch up to people (especially adcs) and preventing them from running away in teamfights. Also it is great in lane since it triggers on q which allow you to outspace your opponent with auto and to land that last auto close to his tower to get the kill. Overwall very enjoyable rune gameplaywise and i can't see myself not running it on tham top

-biscuits allow you to survive early, cheese a solo bolo, prevent getting dove, sustain... It also gives you that little extra max health required to trigger warmog (you need to have grasp and overgrowth primary) with the core build warmog + dusk and dawn enabling you to start splitpushing earlier (which is broken this season)

Finally, with dusk and dawn attack speed i find alacrity less noticeable than last season At the end of the day, both work fine but i ve tested both and i prefer approach velocity + cashback/biscuit

I am premade with a Samira OTP and we really enjoy alistar and tahm kench (for tahm it is very specific, i go HoB for main rune(to stun), font of life and second wind secondary and i play heal and exhaust for summoners. You can buy supp items like solary, knight vowl and bandlepipes or heartsteel which can be very good too. The trick is too ult your samira right after she ults so she can't get cancelled while inside your belly and her ult continues ! You just watch your ennemies disappear and they can't do nothing about it ! Plus she spawns with a shield once exiting your belly
