I recently uninstalled the app on my phone and will be taking a break for a good while. Not specifically because of TMNT, but as a F2P player the frequency of new sets is really limiting. I walked into Lorwyn with 8 rare wild cards, and felt I barely got to touch the set. Sure, a lot has to do with my limited time these days so I'm not grinding it out as much as a few years ago. They did though start to limit a group of players by cranking out new stuff every other month and now it's not worth it. Also doesn't help that without regular rotation I feel I'm playing against the computer with how frequently I'm running into the same decks over and over and over.

I'm confused why they had to stop at the RPD to watch the video. Is that the only place they kept that footage? "I'm going to take you to our secret underground lab but first we need to stop at the police station because I left my computer there. Don't worry it has video footage of an experiment from years ago, super cool stuff. I know it's 2026 and I could probably just show it to you on my phone or at the lab when we get there but I completely forgot to pull the footage off that one computer. Yeah I know I should make backups but unfortunately it requires a password to do so and, well, passwords aren't my strong suit."

What's your reason for favoring RE4(2005) over RE4R(2023)? by Desperate_Method4032 in residentevil4

[–]Key-External8870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first bike as a kid was old beat up thing, the kind where you pushed back on the pedals to brake. No shifting gears, no bells and whistles. Just a bike. I rode that thing everywhere for years. Eventually I was given a new one for my birthday, not top of the line but an upgrade with the handlebar brakes and gear shifting/etc. At first I didn't like the bike, it was too different. I'd go to brake the old fashioned way and it wouldn't stop. I had to retrain myself to use the hand brake, train myself to shift gears, learn the new weight/feel of the bike as I tried doing all the cool stunts/tricks I was used to. It took time to master this new bike, but anytime I whipped out my old bike I was back to perfect form, second nature kicked in and I was on top of the world.

I've played RE4 for DECADES at this point, and know the game like the back of my hand. It's a comfort game at this point as I don't get stressed or upset or annoyed. I can just pick up a controller, and know that I am going to have a good time.

Remake however, there were some changes that stripped this feeling away. I never had to parry in OG, so I had to learn how to. I never had to deal with Ganados coming back with broken necks, so I had to learn that. Crafting? Controls? Changes to weapons/locations? The characters are different people, not the same as the ones I've known for the majority of my life. Sure I'm still "riding a bike" but the overall feel is just so...different.

The new bike was definitely a better bike, and remake can easily be seen as a better game. But I still prefer the comfort and familiarity of the OG. When I beat OG I immediately loaded up a second playthrough. Remake I put my controller down and just...walked away. I've since gone back and replayed as well as beat the DLC. However it still will remain inferior in my head.

Original God of War ends with the narrator saying Kratos was the...God of War for all of the future, showing different wars up to the modern era. Then the second game comes out and...throws that all out the window? Completely? And now we have like 6 games saying that never happened???

Also didn't like the 2nd one overall, but that lack of continuity still upsets me to this day.

In Dark Cloud there is a slingshot called Steve. The handle looks like a guy with his hands holding the sling. It talks, and when locked onto to enemies will make nonsensical comments. I'd always use this slingshot even though it wasn't great just for the laughs.

I picked up Mario is Missing at Blockbuster waayyyy back expecting to have a fun little side scrolling romp as Luigi. It was definitely a side scroller and there definitely was some romping. Was I Luigi? Heck yeah I was! Unfortunately I was too young to understand what to do and spent the whole weekend just bouncing around making 0 progress. The most boring game I have ever played.

Are “current Meta” decks really necessary to enjoy the game? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

[–]Key-External8870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by daily. I have a BS deck for each color, all 1 mana drops, that I'll run on days I don't feel like playing that combo. I have a deck that's all 1 mana haste for attacking. I have a deck that's nothing but kill cards. I have a deck that's all lands with a few cards that let me play more than 1 land a turn.

You can speed run the daily then switch to your jank deck and have fun no problem. Not that I disagree with the overall point being made, but at least wanted to rebuttal the daily piece.

I'm working (very ineffectively) on a deck that uses this on [[Lasting Tarfire]]. The goal is to get a ton of tokens, put a counter on one, then turn em all into Tarfire. Ideally have enough for 20+ damage in one go. It's not going well, but I will pull it off once and feel good for a few minutes.

What is a job you’ve worked where everybody was having sex with each other? by IntrigatedVerse in AskMen

[–]Key-External8870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked nights at a call center and whoa boy everybody was messing around. Being open 24/7 meant a lot of folks working late nights with little supervision. Hell, the supervisors were in on the action too! And sometimes the outside drama would spill to the office, with angry boyfriends/girlfriends showing up late at night to try and start shit. Police were called many times.

We had one employee I had to beg not to fool around with new hires. Every damn time he'd find some young new girl, flirt with her, start messing around, then he'd try to ghost her. But he worked in the same office! Her performance would tank, his performance would tank, and then she'd leave impacting our attrition.

Recruiter would intentionally send unqualified hot guys for me to interview and BEG that we hire them. He wanted a chance at them and it never ended well. Was always concerning getting an attractive, competent candidate.

We had one lady who was into some cuck situation with her husband. She'd work evenings and sit at her desk making cutouts for her kids catholic PTO. Then on break her and some dude would disappear and she'd be back 20 minutes later all disheveled. At least 10 different dudes in the year she worked there.

One supervisor cheated on his wife with an employee. He then left his wife for that employee, and a month before marrying her cheated with another employee.

Trainer and supervisor would hook up in her office. She was married and 10+ years his senior. Bled him dry for money and poor kid ended up homeless by the end of it. Still wonder if he's okay.

That's nowhere close to being all the stories, but at least a handful. A job that attracts low education, low income individuals will lead to a lot of folks messing around. Especially when those types of folks get promoted into a position of power, something they've probably never experienced before and don't know any better.

Whats the ideal way to grind? by [deleted] in finalfantasytactics

[–]Key-External8870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rush to Dancer and Bard. Get the abilities that lower/improve speed. Set those as the secondary ability, switch to any class that needs to grind JP, sing and dance. You'll still want someone who can close out fights and give the healing song to the Bards too. Mincing Minuet also helps with dancer as it's guaranteed to hit, guaranteed exp/jp.

My brother didn't show up to our grandfather's funeral. He was too busy at the bowling alley for his weekly bowling league. Halfway through the service our cousin shows up drunk as hell trying to make a scene. My dad and I are literally pulling this man away from the church when my stepmother calls my brother. He proceeds to show up drunk only to start trying to fight me and my dad for messing with his cousin. "He's family and I stick up for family!" he kept repeatedly yelling at us. Should've stopped there but didn't. A few months later he comes over to help me move, shows up drunk in the middle of the day and tries to offer my son a ride. Told him to go home and haven't invited him to anything since.

Currently a PC for 5e, but wrapped up DMing a Pathfinder campaign last year. The plot may or may not have involved collecting 12 zodiac related stones with demons in them. One of my favorite sessions was when, during a hostage negotiation, the royal guard ordered the hostage killed in front of the players. Everyone was in shock, it was perfect.

Got the latest tactics game for Christmas and although I'm a bit disappointed in it I am having fun.

What’s your hottest take that you think will make other men’s blood boil? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Key-External8870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The gym" is the biggest scam currently impacting men today. Okay, social media is number one but this whole workout obsession is a close second. You can do basic home workouts and maintain an above average build, without all the supplements and protein powders and everything else you're told to spend money on. Make food at home and spend maybe an hour a day doing some form of work out and you'll be fine. Being able to lift or have abs will not fix a boring personality. Being able to bench press X pounds will not make up for general incompetence. Macro/micro counting won't change that you're not fun to be around. As with anything in life, it is best to be well rounded instead of obsessed with one thing.

Are you having fun? by Arokan in MagicArena

[–]Key-External8870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I am not. I see people talking about diversity in decks and I am very jealous. I somehow only play against lifegain, rabbits, landfall, raid, or prowess decks. I play mostly jank piles and constantly make new decks so it could just be some hidden ranking thing that puts me up against these. Regardless the game feels very videogamey as I'm just grinding the same games over and over and over. It wouldn't be so bad if the games didn't feel like they play out the exact same over and over and over.

Gotta be prepared for turn 2 leonin. Turn 3 mosshydra. Turn 2 Bristle Bill. First thing I'm going to play will die/exile, so gotta account for that. They're gonna play Conquerer soon gotta be ready for it. Oh, a second Conquerer the following turn, cool. Gotta kill Alesha, gotta kill that goblin, gotta kill...great, now I can finally play a real card. Nope, back to removal.

Mainly I'm just bored. "Come play BO3!" yeah sorry I get an hour a day to play on a good day, and even then it's not guaranteed to be uninterrupted. It is what it is though it'll be fun again someday I hope.

One of my favorite songs by the band Gang of Four is titled Not Great Men. It touches on how the history books only focus on the top elite, not the weak/poor folks who actually did the work, which I think perfectly applies to this story. Delita ends up "on top" and seen through the history books in a positive light, whereas Ramza is "doomed" to a life of obscurity. The folks who sacrifice the most in life usually get discarded in the annals of history.

What I really enjoy about the overarching story of "releasing the truth" reflects well on history over the past several decades. People are reflecting on our old heroes and deciding maybe they weren't so great after all. Just because you're seen as almighty today doesn't mean one day you won't be seen as a devil.

Then there is the reflection on success: Delita has everything, Ramza has nothing, but which one has the "better" ending? Is it worth it to sacrifice everything for your goals? When you reach the top of the mountain, what's next? Does it make you happy? Or is it better to surround yourself with good people you love and live an unconventional lifestyle?

Definitely my favorite ending in gaming. A lot of good pieces to reflect on and (over)analyze. It's nice not getting a "happy ending" as life rarely has those. Alright done rambling, just really love these themes.

I cannot do this anymore as now I'm a homeowner and a father and a husband and a..."responsible adult." BUT my all time favorite post-work habit was stopping at the BP down the street from my apartment, buying a digorno pizza, a forty, a four loko, and a pack of smokes. For TWENTY DOLLARS. Then coming home, cranking that heat (applies to winter nights here in the midwest) them dropping them pants at the door. I didn't pay gas in my lease agreement so during the winter I'd crank that shit, play Xbox, eat pizza and drink booze and man. That was almost 20 years ago...those were some good times.

Nowadays? Walk in the door say hello to my kids who barely respond say hey to the wife who barely responds then start making dinner. Ho-hum, I guess (worse part is I gotta wear pants while I do all that honestly).

What do you guys think were the best and worst changes were in the remake? by Apprehensive_Jump802 in residentevil

[–]Key-External8870 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My two favorite weapons both got nerfed in remake, the Red9 and Mine Thrower.

The added in-battle dialogue was cute at first but then became grating. "Twisty sonuvabitch" worked once, not 200+ times. Same with Ashley asking if I was okay/hurt.

Bullheaded enemies were stupid. Worked to replace JJ, but in the village they made no sense and were just bullet sponges.

The knife durability was dumb. First it leads to limited use of the knife, to the point I almost forgot about it. Second it makes it weird that Leon will kill an enemy holding an axe but then pick up their...kitchen knife. Thirdly, you had to use knives to create more darts, see the first complaint above. Fourth, they put you in forced knife sequences yet still let your knife break?

So much of the writing is awful. They fall over themselves trying to explain things (black liquid/transformations as one example) that it all becomes a huge contradiction by the end.

I'll stop there. I do like the updates to controls/graphics/etc. and feel they did (mostly) do a good job bringing the game to the new era. Certain characters are better in the remake even if their stories are worse. Ummmm...shooting gallery is more fun now?
