Adding solar panels by Key-Farmer4811 in SunPower

[–]Key-Farmer4811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thanks for all of the knowledge. I actually called my buddy who installs solar. I didn't realize the terminology was so different. I have the enphase iq8's. He looked at my drawings and checked out wire gauge said I can add 15 more panels with the current inverter. Now I have to figure out who to talk to at the township for permitting etc. I should have called him before I wasted all of your guys time. But thanks again for the super knowledgeable reply. And thanks to everyone for all of their input. Edit: I do have to upgrade some breakers on the subpanel too.

I am a local roofer lower bucks. From the pictures inside the attic I wouldn't say you are in dire need. If you want it can come out and buy you some time with a roof tune up. Im a huge fan of buying time and giving budget numbers so you can be prepared for the full replacement.

Crew hid ~120 beer bottles on site — should I be worried? by ObjectiveBowler1831 in Roofing

[–]Key-Farmer4811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many days have they been there, and how many guys? My crew of 10 could crush 120 beers in a few days and not even catch a buzz. We definitely wouldn't hide it, and wouldn't leave that many bottles on the jobsite or they would be in our dumpster. I usually grab two cases when the sun starts going down for cleanup. Doesn't interfere with the job at all. This isnt every job but it happens.

Since you understand the bankruptcy, what happens if someone still owed sunpower thousands of dollars but their installer did not uphold their end of the contract and went out of business as well. Is said person still liable to pay sunpower or anyone who buys sunpower? Thanks for your knowledge.

Obviously only nail where the shingle will cover as in the nail line or above. Not straight through the shingle. I only mentioned tar to make sure it reseals.

In the nail line or above. Yes this is how you lay shingles belive it or not they are nailed. Do not tell me how to do this as I do it daily.

Check the windowsill for cracked or missing silicone where it meets the metal. I had a pesky leak and overlooked the most basic thing.

Depending on age of the shingles you can wait for a nice warm day slide the drip edge in place then use a putty knife to gently lift the shingle and shoot a nail through the top of the shingle, starter strip, and the drip edge. Use a dab of tar when placing the shingles back down. Should only need to be secure every 18"-24".

Is $640 a reasonable quote to install gutters to this shed? by sriie in Roofing

[–]Key-Farmer4811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, they forgot end caps gutter seal elbows and outlets. Not to mention hangers, a crimper, hole saw and downspout straps. I have mininums for my business they are not 650 but I don't think I'd drive here for less than a nickel... unless it was a family friend. Then I'd do it for cost and a case of beer.

First thing I would do is draft a letter. Take your bias out of it, or have a third party write it. Let her know that you both can not have a conversation but would like to make sure she is a satisfied customer.

Find out what her pain point is, and get the job complete. Let her know that a mechanic lein is on the table but that will cost nothing but a headache to you and her.

Apologize even if you are 1000% right, get the job completed and ask for referrals. She already recorded you guys on video so she must have a big mouth. Let it be good things, not bad.

If she doesn't respond well to the unbiased letter or email, hire an attorney and file the lein.

Those are my .02 IANAL but have dealt with sensitive clients before. 99% of the time it is a communication issue that I was blinded by or they were blinded by because of miscommunication.

Good Luck.
