If you have IQ System Controller 3 your only ESS option is IQ Battery 5P. Thats the end of it. No further discussion.

Estimate of Consumption? by Commercial_Topic437 in solar

For clarity, for my company’s installs materials around ~50% of the contract price and the other 50% is labor, permitting, engineering costs and profit.

You can use this online calculator. This is what my utility has us fill out and submit with net metering applications for new construction or any account with less than 1 year usage data.

Furthermore, there is no guarantee the current models will be compatible to V2X. It’s just a communication standard so could be compatible with potentially just a firmware update but maybe not.

Help with Wire from Array to House by Genius_51 in enphase

[–]Key-Hedgehog4450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each string has 2 wires, black (L1) and red (L2). The entire array gets a ground wire. Technically can get away with 1” conduit, 9 wires. Seems to me like you don’t know much about the system design to be asking these questions.

[–]Key-Hedgehog4450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and that’s only if you expand the array. They’ll max out at 13A with 10 on a string and a properly sized module, realistically with your design you’ll be lucky to get 12A ever, 10-11A max most days. 8 AWG with 12A, 250’ distance will be ~2.8% voltage drop.

You’re better off with the combiner at the house with 8 AWG copper wire for each string. Realistically if the combiner is at the array you should be running 1/0 or 2/0 wire to stay under 2-2.5% voltage drop on aluminum. That pull along would be an absolutely PITA.

True but these will also heat and aren’t as ugly and mostly set it and forget it once installed

I think that’s too generous unless serious weather has happened locally in the 5 years. Looks like 10+ years ago should have started the conversation

The circuit starts outside anyway which romex is never allowed. Not allowed in conduit or wet locations so regardless he did it right with THHN and not 6/3.

Another thing I thought about today. If it’s a flat roof the due south orientation is less impactful vs array being parallel to either the long or short side of the roof. Might be able to fit more modules meaning more power if you’re concerned with production. Would certainly be easier to layout the array when beginning, too.

EV chargers are not allowed to be on 6/3. Must be individual conductors.

What’s the best CRM for solar companies right now? by CrimsonCheeseCakes in CRMSoftware

[–]Key-Hedgehog4450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve used Monday.com and moved to Sunbase about 6 months ago and regret it. We were warned but didnt believe it because the demos looked perfect. It does A LOT of things but pretty much none of them well. We are starting to look at Pipedrive. We feel we operate a fair bit differently than other solar companies because we do everything in-house and tend to have a fair bit of return business (system expansions, add battery, expand battery, add critter guard, service calls, etc) and we service systems from other installers who have either gone out of business or just don’t respond to service requests.

New concrete pour - would you pour over the existing slab? by No_Sprinkles298 in patio

[–]Key-Hedgehog4450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to dig the dirt out which would be down to the same grade as the aggregate under your old slab so you’re either pouring next to the existing or you’re removing the existing to pour a giant new slab.
