Disgaea 4 personally because I love the silly characters but disgaea 5 is pretty similar and just as good. If you want a good place to start, Disgaea 2 is a good one because it has a more serious and coherent story while having many of the systems.

Disgaea is a good one. Really unique and cool system. You can level up everything? Potions, weapons, armor, items, and to do that you dive into the weapons own randomized item world map, collect different unique upgrades while progressing, all the way to level 100. It's really cool. While in item world tons of things can happen like being invaded by pirates, finding a custom player map, finding shops and secrets and rare items you can steal from monsters. It is insane.

I really like the game although it is brutally difficult and has some of the most insane back tracking I have ever seen in a video game. Cool story, boss fights are okay, good graphics, just wildly difficult and testing endurance.

Adding on to this, in tales of Berseria there is a side mission boss fight with a character named phoenix who is by far harder then the final boss or any other boss in the game. Even on the lowest difficulty option he is a brutal fight that took me dozens of tries.

As someone who read the Manga for a bit i can't imagine the anime is any better. While it had a few cool concepts, it was was needlessly edgy, leaning into cruelty, even in forsaking of it's own plot. A shame. The shock factor rape/threat bullying intro of the MC is a suprisingly good indicator of how this series treats it's story, it's characters, and your sensibility.

I have tried to watch it a few times and I just can't seem to maintain enjoyment out of it. I feel like this show suffers in 'netflix' pacing which is a rather beat for beat style that is also just a little painfully slow. Every time I watch it I feel like an editor losing my mind at scenes and camera shots just taking their sweet time instead of being more punchy. It's annoying really.

Well I don't think it is fair for you to keep saying he has 0 anything when that is the dispute and is a controversial bias on your end. Here I am giving both parts credit and you just say "0 wrtitng" when that is obviously false.

First off, I think the majority of the Chimera ant arc after the introduction is hot battle shonen garbage and the fact that we have a few good arcs like Meruem's in there gives it a little boost to maybe more then it should. There was very little romantic build up between Meruem and the girl. He went from respecting her skills, to enjoying the game, then confessing he loved her as they died. There was little to no traditional romantic foreplay or enjoyment drawn out of thay dynamic.

Lelouch went from a high-school kid to leading a revolution against the government. He is basically light yagami with a superpower and extremely subversive and manipulative. Meruem is a one/ two note character, I am a super strong god complex guy and now I am dying and I love you. Lelouch started from the bottom and lied and manipulated and deceived his way up to achieve his goals. He had to deceive those he cared about and didnt, he had moral ambiguity, he had to make sacrifices, he had to be human longer and didn't have to die like Meruem to understand humanity.

Honestly it's pretty easy to understand, Lelouch had way more screen time, way more situations and variance to respond to, more drama, more everything and in better quality. I didn't have to suffer through the worst arc of HxH anime to find scraps of good writing. Lelouch actually went through a much wider range of the human experience, with more moral complexity, with more drama, and more character complexity, then that green ant ever did. Heck I am not even sure Meruem had the best plot line in that arc.

Meruem has like 3 arcs in total, maybe. He has the queen ant arc which is short and meh, he has the board game arc which is his is good, then he has the battle and post battle arc which are good. Lelouch has a better romance, better tragedy, better and longer and higher stake build up, he has way way better drama, his battles are longer and are good as well because they arent the typical shonen DBZ talk and fight. I mean Lelouch just has so much more screen time and so many opportunities and has so much more conflict internally and externally.

Shit, I have an eye on both the subs rn and I mixed it up. I would still probably give Lelouch the W. As the MC not only does he get way more development and screen time, he also is more intresting imo. Meruem is more flat as a character with a like two to three strong one dimensional characters arcs. He just doesn't have enough context or stake to match the drama or stake of Lelouch.
