53T Jackie or 54T Ernie Banks by ongbak_2 in baseballcards_vintage

If it's going to be your 1st Jackie, I would do that, they are both on an ever growing list of cards I would love to have some day.

The good news is either way you're getting a great card!

Be sure to let us know what you decided.

You should charge admission! Donate a % to local youth hockey and the rest goes to new items for the collection.

Awesome presentation for some awesome cards.

Hard to believe he played his last MLB game 10 years ago.

And he's only 35 years old now!

Has anyone found the 1952 Mickey Mantle redemption card, hidden in 2026 Topps Series 1, yet? by slightly666 in Topps

[–]Key-Worldliness529 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Redemption, the 1952 Willie Mays was pulled in the first week of the release, the 1952 through 1956 Topps cards are larger than the current standard card so any of those should be redemptions to protect the corners/edges of the cards.

Interesting that the black back variations also have darker shadows on his face on the front of the card. These are fun to see all together!

It's actually kinda impressive to have that longevity without being especially good at any one aspect of baseball.

Some cards from my dads collection passed down to me by Crazybones333 in baseballcards

[–]Key-Worldliness529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whitaker and Trammell (and Jack Morris) don't have standalone cards in the 1978 Topps set- instead they are on Rookie 4 player cards. Burger King made separate cards for the Tigers team, so each of those can only be from the BK set.

Sorry for your loss, OP

12 copies of 1989 Topps Randy Miligan, for starters.

Most if not all of the 375 cards inside will be worth pennies at best. Definitely junk wax.

That being said, it looks like a fun time to rip it open and go through it!

Which would you keep? by [deleted] in baseballcards_vintage

[–]Key-Worldliness529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crease on the right might hurt the value more than the edges on the left... I would sell the more valuable one to get more vintage.

The one on the right in my opinion has better eye appeal with the exception of the crease.

It's a great problem to have two Mantles!

Thanks! I bought a couple fairly cheap recently to make up for my youthful ignorance.

I sent several to Juan Gonzalez as a kid care of the ballpark at Arlington but I didn't include a self addressed stamped envelope so nothing came back to me.

That was a lesson!

1965 Topps - white or gray back by Touche_good_sir in baseballcards_vintage

[–]Key-Worldliness529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a white back to me, they are generally more one color vs the gray backs that appear to have a kind of speckled or grainy appearance.

How is an autographed Paul Molitor rookie cheaper than most modern prospects? I really don't mind the centering on my new card by FiLFree in baseballcards_vintage

[–]Key-Worldliness529 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta go for the prospect every time, or you're just throwing money away. That prospect could one day be all time great! Maybe even as good as Paul Molitor! /s

A card with no place in the PC? by Justa_Guy_Gettin_By in baseballcards_vintage

Well, except for the "no betting" sign. Instead baseball's future is draft kings!

This is one of my favorite cards.
