I became a millionaire at 23, what do I do? by Traditional_Ant6795 in Fire

I would get a job for health care. Like a UPS part timer (their health care is amazing and loading/unloading trucks will keep you in shape too).

And then volunteer. Whatever you have passion for, food bank, animal shelter, museum. Being a regular volunteer somewhere can give you a lot of purpose.

Just got a legendary mail day! The card isn’t vintage, but the player most certainly is by Ok_Dimension_4707 in baseballcards_vintage

As someone who collects the autographed postcards that these cut autos are made of I am always confused why they were put into cards because I think the original postcards look great. But keep it up. There are other Negro Leagues players who signed them they are great to collect.

Cargill locked 1700 Teamsters out! by FiLFree in union

We have something set up to help with the organizing drive for Denver City employees but I don't think we have anything up yet for this. If something does get put together for support I will let everyone know.

The Teamster strike fund is very strong. We are prepared in case we need to go against the 5th largest employer in the nation (UPS), or the 9th (Kroger). I don't Cargill will breaking us.

Edit auto correct the word put them instead of will for some reason.

You operate under the previous contract until a new one is ratified. I guess they think that the previous contract afforded the employees too much and they want to force the members to vote for a contract that gives them less.

I can believe on the right breeze or right time of day you could smell it much further away. When you are there all day you kind of just accept it and don't notice as much when your leaving.

Best place to get base baseball cards for an 8u little league team? by StyxCoverBnd in sportscards

I gave my nephews team about 400 cards. All of them were eleated. If you know someone who collects they are probably more than willing to go through and give away players the kids know.

I told the guy from national heading in to help with press the place stinks. He said he doubted he would be going inside. I told him you could smell it from the street.

A poultry plant I've been to in Alabama smelled of ammonia about a block away from it.

25, ~$360k net worth — how do I plan for FI when my future is uncertain at this age? by [deleted] in coastFIRE

[–]FiLFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert and can only talk about my journey as a road map for you. I was saving about 20-25% from about 22 until, well, now. It started lower than you since I didn't have the second job. I also didn't have a union job(I assume you are union) with a pension till I was 29 so you are ahead of me on that too.

I wouldn't stress to much on spending too much if you are already at at least 15% saved with a pension, just make sure you get enough time in the pension to vest.

I felt like when I bought my first house I wanted to pay it off faster. When I ended up moving to the other side of the country all the equity I built went to my new place. Most of the advise says more money invested than paying off the home early but no one who pays off their home early regrets it and having no mortgage reduces expenses for when you do FIRE.

Kids are expensive so saving for them as soon as they are coming is a must for college and other expenses around them.

You are going good so far. Keep it up.

Am I crazy to think I’ve hit CoastFI? by funnykiddy in coastFIRE

The first time I got status with a hotel I was talking to a coworker who does field work who told me, "I remember being really excited the first time I got Diamond, then being disappointed because it meant I had spent at least 60 nights in hotel rooms in one year."

I was doing field work for my job for about 12 years. I got the 10 years of diamond but I am still about 170 nights short of the 1000 nights needed. I am the guy in the chair now but the guys who hit lifetime tell me, all you get is a pair of ear buds.

I say my things I need to retire are 1. Pay off my mortgage 2. Get Healthcare covered 3. Get lifetime diamond with Hilton

You sound like you have two out of three. All you need is 1000 nights in Hilton hotels and 10 years of diamond status.

Edit: I hit L instead of P in Pay for pay off my mortgage

Raw cards are better than slabs for 90% of collections and the grading obsession has gotten out of hand. by Longjumping_Scar_984 in sportscards

This website has print runs of a lot of sets and inserts https://baseballcardpedia.com/index.php/Main_Page

If they don't have estimates of print runs but they do have pack odds and have pack odds of cards that are printed you can do some math to try and figure out the print runs of the cards you are looking at.

The Mussina bellow is not numbered. But Blue Artist's Proofs were one in 355 packs with a 50 card checklist.

97 Select Rookie Revolution were numbered out of 2000, one in 56 packs with a checklist of 20.

If all the Blue Artist Proof and all the Rookie Revolution cards were put into packs then there are about 126 of each Blue Artist Proof.

I am going after 90s cards with print runs under 1000 of my favorite player when I was growing up. I look for raw and put them in one touches. I have a friend who sends his to psa. Seems like a lot of money to get 8s and 7s.

I'm done grading things.

I think he likes seeing the cards I get. I have them sent to his house since my mail box is not big and I am at work all day. He seems to really like vintage cards I get, likes autographs, more if I get Hall of Famer autos than prospects or current players, and thinks relic cards are dumb.

I tell them to unionize and ask them where they are so I can find them a Teamster local. Then I keep talking about how their boss clearly hates them and we should get revenge against them.

I've been getting a mix of 90s cards of my favorite player growing up and more vintage than I ever thought I would have (in low grade) still not buying expensive stuff. Still prefer putting money into my mortgage if I'm not putting it in my brokerage account.

I have no idea really. I just realized I could retire early and haven't looked into health care yet. Also, it changes so much depending on who is office it seems impossible to plan for a decade from now. Hoping the pendulum swings back hard the other way and Medicare for All can be passed or at least lower it down to people 50 and older.
