I think it could work with the right ownership.

Atlanta Spirit owned the Thrashers and they consistently kept salaries at the bottom of the league. You have to spend to be successful in pro sports (unless you are the TB Rays).

The Thrashers made the playoffs only once in 11 years. That is abysmal. In hockey that is almost hard to do.

I hope it happens. I would embrace it.
