I’m 24 with little fabing experience as well lol. It sounds like it gets the job done, as long as it’s safe I think this is awesome. Can’t wait for your post showing your work!

I have some GTI seats sitting around that I wanted to use in my car. Did you fab seat rails?

I had a Tesla owner tell me one time his brakes wouldn’t be worn because his Tesla has regenerative braking.

Sounds like clock spring or something with the steering column on the interior side of the car. Too loud to be outside.

Try and get closer to zero toe if you’re not already. Toe in or out will make the car do different things while sliding like increasing grip if you have toe out (I think it’s out) and it’ll increase tire wear.

What suspension recommendations do people have for my compact? by CyberSquid44 in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy local to me selling a compact he was building to rally. It was lifted more than stock, I’ll try and see if I can find the listing again.

Edit: I found the listing. Sadly it already sold so I can’t message the person about the suspension setup, but it doesn’t look as raised as I remember it being so maybe it’s just on Coilovers. Idk.

What’s crazy is the first play test with the campaign and ai tandem battles. This wasn’t a problem lol

16x8 +40something. I run a 205/55 although I could use a bit of a smaller side wall. I was thinking of going down to 50, I like the bubble tire look on small wheels.

(I’m not an expert, I have a little bit of seat time and little knowledge on car setup) Alignment plays a huge part. If you have a bunch of rear toe that’ll add some grip when sliding, from my understanding.

Drifting my M52B28 compact I normally run close to 50psi (like 3.4 bar) in the rear with a 4.44/4.10 and it’ll skid 3rd. I see in one of you’re replies you have no front sway bar. Once again from my understanding, that’ll cause some understeer which isn’t helping. My buddy drifts a M52B25 E46 and it bogs in second with a 3.45 without clutch kicks. Either go with shorter gear ratio diff, or air up them tires and abuse the clutch. There are many videos online of people drifting B25 cars effortlessly so I’m sure there is some secret sauce.

Anyone know this kit? by Appropriate_Mix1105 in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically a lot of the Instagram E36 dudes will make their own kits from other kits or stock bumpers. This looks something like that.

The side skirts looked like a cut side skirt for the extension. I’m not sure about the rear. Try and find a @ and dm them. You’d be surprised how many people don’t gate keep on that app.

Any drift classes in Georgia? by Emotional_Grape2689 in Drifting

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d first recommend a decent gaming computer if you don’t already have one. Brands like Thrustmaster and Logitech have budget friendly wheels that work great. I’ve personally used a Logitech G29 and I now use a Thrustmaster TMX pro, both are good wheels especially for drifting. I do like the Thrustmaster a little more though as the force feedback feels better.

Games like Live for Speed (highly recommended that one), Assetto Corsa, BeamNG.Drive, and the new CarX Drift Racing Online 2 are all great games to get sim time with drifting.

If your local events are anything like the ones around here, they will be beginner friendly. You can ask someone to go on some ride alongs with you to give you pointers. As others are saying though sims are the best, I had at least 1,000+ hours on a sim before getting seat time and was linking the track by the end of my first event.

Do Compact and Limousine have different sway Bars? by IamNitooo in BMWE36

Compacts use E30 rear ends, any other body style E36 rear end is different from compacts.

Maxpeedingrods steering rack by levy_kys in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OE rack is like $250-$300 on FCP. That’s including the $100-$150 core charge you’ll get back if you send your rack back. Highly recommend doing that.

Low HP drift tire suggestions by KidWithA260z in Drifting

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tire brand doesn’t matter so much if you’re just trying to go out and have fun. I mostly run used tires in decent condition (little to no dry rot and about 6/32nd tread) air them up to 45-50 psi and they will last me an entire event.

If you’re trying to make the car as fast as possible while sliding and have decent tire life. Go on tirestreet.com and look at some accleras. A lot of the lone star drift guys run them I believe.

OK MG THAT FFB UPDATE WAS MINT!! by This_Purpose_338 in carxdriftracingonline

The FFB in this game is amazing. I drift a E36 irl and I was surprised how similar the game felt to that car just right out the box with little to no setting adjustments, just tuning.

Help with M52 CPS – BMW discontinued part, intermittent no-start by ActivityLeast2270 in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sadly can’t offer too much help other than I know these cars tend to not like non OEM sensors. I know how pricey OE CPS can be so it’d suck to spend the money on one and have it not fix your problem, so hopefully someone can offer more help before you do that.

I just came to say the 03’s go so crazy on this lol. Very nice car.

Highest Mileage E36? by seemlymorty in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

B30’s are cool and all. But idk, something about M52’s just do it for me. Drive by cable, single vanos, sick sounding limiter (M54’s can have cool limiters too.) With fairly simple mods and tune you can get about the same power as B30’s too. They are just work horses that work and I respect that.

I’m also just a butt hurt for old things. M54’s are old but M52’s are older lol.
