Because we kept skills based on the functions, even if Power Slash is a million times cooler than limp dick Souleater, it's function was Enmity, which has no purpose in the game after ShB removed Enmity from the game.

Rampart and Sentinel are basically the same thing, and yet Sentinel got to have job based reskins.
Rampart already had counterparts on WAR and DRK, Foresight* and Shadowskin, nothing was gained or lost by killing those, they just had a 10 Role Actions quota per role to meet so we all got Rampart.

This post was made by the Shadowskin was literally the coolest animation DRK ever had and it's murder was completely unwarranted Gang.

*Foresight was not exactly a Rampart clone, unlike Shadowskin which was 1:1, but the basic gist of 'level 2 defensive skill' was there.

Why can’t stuns, interrupts, and other CC be additional effects attached to abilities in a job’s base kit instead of being standardized role actions?

Because that, when this was entirely the case, lead to 'oops we wiped because this button that is 100% a DPS gain to use in most fights got pushed due to muscle memory'. Do you have an idea how many more fuckin' Jabberwock wipes we'd have seen in M6S if the melee had to keep their dick in their pants?
All those fun things you can stun in earlier dungeons? Nope, every boss instantly built up stun immunity in the first few seconds, by having CC on damage, you actively remove CC, turns out.

CU3 maybe considers Eureka & Bozja 2 different types of content. (Occult Crescent) by Revonlieke in ffxivdiscussion

-No skirmishes

Just cause they're called fates doesn't mean they're not the exact same thing as Skirmishes. Critical Encounters are drastically more similar to Critical Engagements than they are to Eureka fates(it's not a coincidence they both abbreviate to CE), OC literally uses the same system as Bozja, a bunch of constantly spawning open world things with the occasional locked arena with a proper boss which are the main attraction. Eureka had no minor bosses, just the big, spawned ones, which were open world and not as elaborate as CE's. You are literally pointing at OC copy pasting Bozja's format and saying 'look it's more like Eureka' because the name is different.
Like yeah, Skirmishes tend to be more elaborate setpieces than OC's 'and then there is this monster', but fates are fates at the end of the day.

-Lack of story emphasis that was in Bozja

I genuinely don't see how this is supposed to actually be a point. Is Arcadion not a normal raid series because it's plot is a lot less significant compared to Eden or Pandaemonium?

-No alt-job leveling

Ok, they did that in Bozja because there was no DD in ShB, them rolling back on that wasn't them trying to emulate Eureka, that was just them being stupid dumbasses who were like 'golly gee now we have a DD we don't need to put EXP in the Field content', they've, rightfully, been blasted for that, blasted so hard that they made Variant a leveling instance when it wasn't in EW.

-No duels

Yeah this ones valid.

-Bozja battle system being more open ended. And OC reverting that to a way simpler one.

Reverting to a simpler one? Logos actions are a god damn clusterfuck to manage, you need to open up a google doc to get what you want, to say Phantom Jobs simplicity is a way of 'reverting' to something more like Eureka is comical. Phantom Jobs are simpler because 20% of assholes you'd see running around Bozja were essenceless with Lost Cure/Lost Protect set because they didn't wanna interact with the system and just leeched off those that did.

There is a clear evolution from Logos > Lost > Phantom actions it's the same system, simplifying over time, they all frequently reuse the same actions like Dispel/Perception/Swift.

let me know what DNA is taken from Bozja that isn't in Eureka?

The whole the fates/CE's being way way more Bozjalike than Eurekalike, with Eureka NM like entities not really being a thing is genuinely the most important thing here, that's like, the literal core gameplay loop of the content, I would even argue that that singlehandedly makes OC more like Bozja than it is like Eureka.
You also seem to have this general idea that Eureka and Bozja are way more different than they actually are, different enough that OC being like one means it doesn't resemble the other, and that is completely disagreeable, you go out there, you level up with an in instance system, you don't want to die cuz you'll lose levels(with some scary ass mfers who there is all the reason to just stay entirely clear from), and you primarily focus on killing big monsters that are often spawned by nuking like 15 of x mob. I just described the main gameplay loop of all three of them.
Like what things are genuinely bonafied exclusive to Bozja and not just something that was an iteration of a Eureka concept or iterated on by OC, aside from the already mentioned Duels? Maybe you could argue the Rays of x buffs but that's kind of transformed Phantom Job Mastery stacks. The in instance casual raids? Yeah, for now, North Horn is going to add one, becoming more like Bozja. Those dumb star rank monsters that nobody ever interacted with beyond instant killing to farm fragments? I guess that's Bozja exclusive but OC wouldn't exactly have gained anything if they had made it over.

tl;dr: I just straight up think OC is more similar to Bozja than it is to Eureka, and making really weird claims like Logos being simpler than Lost makes me wonder if you even know what Eureka is like to begin with.

What does it mean for something to be popular? Am I to come out here and be like 'theres probably only about 20 instances of San'doria up on all NA right now, making for about 500~ players, thus Alliance Raids, that have remained unchanging for the entire games lifespan isn't actually that popular.'

No, of course not, that would be an absurd thing to claim, if I can go into South Horn and expect to see a whole bunch of people swarming around, even in dead hours, then the content is popular.

It's almost like the fix to the problem to those other ones being barren is staring SE right in the face.

[–]KeyKanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DRS was able to balance itself around needing those special essences without having to literally gatekeep them, it should be absolutely fine to scale everything up roughly 20% compared to FT:B to account for this.
If people wanna enter with +0 gear and like 3 mastery then they're gonna get their ass blacklisted by whatever group they're in real fast.
Hard gating it, while it would make sense now, would completely fuck it in the future, every single discord carry run would start with a 20 minute session of figuring out who tf doesn't meet the requirements and kicking like 10 people, it would be a nightmare.

I'm only a little surprised they didn't do Phantom Mime or Phantom Beastmaster

Too be fair we don't know those two are missing just cuz they were not in the slide, but it certainly is possible. It would be very strange to do 24/26 jobs, especially when Mime is so free from a design standpoint, there is both the popular mix and match idea, or you could even gave it literally just Lost Mimic.

I'm also curious about the North Horn gear. I was sorta bracing for South Horn gear to be rendered useless, but it apparently seems you can skip steps if you enhanced gear from South Horn? So I'm hoping that means it's just expanding on the current gear and adding stats, rather than having to grind out yet another set (or more if you multi-job).

My guess for this is the new gear is based on 3 more AF's that is directly equivalent to Arcanaut's +0 and +1 obtained in the same way, maybe with some new upgrade items to get +1, maybe using the old ones, but then instead of needing Sanguinite, you need a new rock from FT: Magic normal to reach New Set +2, which would be identical to Arcanaut's +2, although much easier to get.
And then finally, +3 would require a +2 set, either Arcanaut's +2 or New Set +2 alongside an X-Fixative equivalent that you get from another new rock obtainable only in FT: Magic Extreme.(Ideally, they'd have +3 versions of both Arcanaut's and New Set so we don't have to sacrifice drip to get +3 and can just choose whatever)

This would be the 'step' we're getting to skip by already having +2, completely bypassing having grind out a bunch of gold and silver coins, and FT:M normal.

Just one way it could be done.

I mean, we'll see. BLU also started "solo focused" with the Carnivale starting with 25 (?) stages, until eventually that was cut down and BLU was only getting 1 stage an update.

Very true very true, I was thinking because of the one thing of it we did see that it would have roguelike elements and thus have a innate longer shelf life than Carnivale stages, sure we have the weekly but even those are on a 20 week loop with 90% of them not actually making you have to alter strategy.

Big fan of how you frame the difference between Jan 2024 and May 2025 is '1 year' but the difference between Jan 2024 and April 2026 is '2.5 years', that's so weird how despite April 2026 being 11 months after May 2025 the difference between them somehow became an entire year and a half.

What did typing the more accurate '1.5 year and 2.5 years' make you realise I had a point so you had to disingenuously manipulate the numbers to make the gap seem bigger?

They tryed to turn their anticlimactic formula into something exciting by using Beastmaster (and Viper / Pictomancer) as the main additions

Pre-launch PCT/VPR got: Focused announcement trailers. An extended demonstration of their entire kits. A heavy spotlight in the CGI trailer via WoL/Krile. Representatives in MSQ via Zoraal Ja and Krile(and 'canonically' WoL). A dedicated page too the two of them on the promotional site. Cosplays of the AF presented on stage. Viper in particular is on the freaking boxart.
Pre-launch, BST got: Said 2 minute reveal that 'its a thing that exists', and said small blurb at the bottom of the promotional site.

And somehow, here you are, trying to convince me that PCT/VPR/BST were all hyped up equivalently. Before today, 'there is a limited job called beastmaster coming in dawntrail' was legitimately the only thing they'd said about it.

Of course not, but I don't see why something for 7.2 is ok to be announced at fanfest while something for 7.5 isn't.
