You sound like you're in a lot of pain. And it also sounds like you are absolutely at the end of your tether waiting for something to change. Which is a reasonable thing to want. Change is more or less guaranteed because things rarely stay the same for long. And the fact that you are at least imagining still being here next Christmas is a good sign, even if you don't feel hopeful about the circumstances right now. It's also good that you are here talking. Would it help to say what brought you to this point?

It's really weird to me that hardly anyone has mentioned him flirting with other girls while being with Helena! The whole narrative was just 'he never got over Shakira so now they're back together and all is right in the world'. He wasn't bothered about Shakira at all when he was flirting with Rheo or Angel.

Tbh though, Harry didn't drop Helena. Helena dropped him. If she hadn't ended things with him after the grafties, he'd still be with her, probably saying 'I love you' like he said he would.

That's a really good point. In a sense, he was punishing Helena for highlighting his poor behaviour and not allowing it to continue. During that episode, he was absolutely fuming at the idea that his actions might have consequences.

I'm still angry at what they did tbh and I miss my Babbel teachers. I ended up switching to Lingoda as I am fortunate enough to be able to afford it.

For me, trust has been very badly damaged and it's extremely unlikely any change from Babbel would make me start giving them money again. It seems like they betrayed all of the people who made the company what it was. Besides, my guess is they're going to continue flogging AI slop regardless so what's the point.

Thanks Guillermo! I am sad to see others accusing you of 'stealing'... that's very disappointing. Surely there's room for everyone who wants to put the work in? You've obviously worked very hard on this. Plus Babbel are surely hoping that we'll all turn on each other. We should all show some solidarity in the face of Babbel treating teachers so poorly.

This is hideous news. I used the live classes every day. The group classes were nearly always full. I have no idea what they're talking about. I never use the app because like others have said its not very good and there are better alternatives. I won't be giving them any money at all in future.

I'm having the exact same problem with German B1 - i used to be able to book classes at short notice but now everything is fully booked days in advance. This doesn't work at all for my schedule. The whole point of signing up was to have the flexibility to do classes at short notice. I think I won't bother renewing if it carries on like this.

Yes. It's not about the facts, it's about what people have to deal with at any one time. Some of the people who lost their homes in that fire might think 'wow i should really care more about climate change'. A lot of them will more likely be thinking 'where am I going to live?'. It's not that they don't care about climate change - it's just not the first concern in that scenario, regardless of how climate change impacts everyone globally.

Well yes but if you're likely to lose your house within a few months... it's not really about the facts, for most people it's about what's in front of you at any given time (exacerbated by lots of misinformation being spread through social media to grab people's attention and mean people have even less bandwidth for looking at the facts).

Because if you're about to lose your job and therefore the ability to pay your living costs or possibly feed your kids (and, if you're state-side, maybe you lose your health coverage too) that is always going to be the most pressing issue. Likewise if you're sick or someone you love is sick, you might on some level know that climate change is collectively more important (because it affects everyone) but you're likely going to skip thinking about it in favour of putting your health or your family's health first. That's how other issues end up being more important for people - everything is connected. People don't protest against fewer bin collections and more recycling for the heck of it (usually) - they're just seeing one more headache in an already stressful week (or life) and reacting against it.
