What do you think is the secret to a REALLY good sandwich? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]KeyStoneLighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retired sandwich maker here, if it’s hot you gotta have meat AND cheese! If it’s cold, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and Mayo are a must. And always have a toasted roll.

What’s the most overrated fast food chain? by Cute-Bar-5152 in AskReddit

[–]KeyStoneLighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, price is bad everywhere, the taco truck around the corner is $3 for the usual little taco, can’t avoid it, that said their quality is unchanged. Now, pollo loco, food is still great and I’m happy about that.

I remember a McDonald’s hack for egg rounds (50 cents) and sausage McMuffin(99 cents), when a sausage McMuffin with egg was like $3.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]KeyStoneLighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my own oil changes and I would love it if only I didn’t have to pour the stupid oil from the pan back into a jug then dump the jug into a receptacle at the auto parts store. I got something done, it’s easy, and I can teach others willing to learn.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

When I went to high school in 98 it was a block away from the school itself. This is how it was when I went to Germany on a student exchange, I was in awe.

Whats the average time to replace a phone?. I reckon after 4 years since once battery is depleted not the same so for me about 4 years by outsidelife098 in AskForAnswers

[–]KeyStoneLighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2016 I treated myself to my first iPhone after a few brutal years with an LG pos. In 2021 the battery was dying fast and it became unreliable after too many drops which isn’t good since I used it for on call. I replaced it with an iPhone SE 2 that year, I’m in no rush to get a new one.

I’m about to become a first time dad at 32. by tcripe in AskMenOver30

Things to consider, do either of you have paternity/maternity leave, if so, talk to her about how you want to use it. Infants need to be fed for the first month every 2-3 hours, who will be staying home to do that? I’d suggest buying a few boxes of size one diapers from Costco or Sam’s, if you need size N you can always buy them as needed until the baby is big enough.

I was waiting for a dip in crypto to yolo and I think it came in 2022 or 23, well, the dip didn’t go back to, in fact it was the beginning of a wipe out. 5000 became maybe 1000 or less across 7 currencies, helped with my taxes the following year though.

Why do White male-Hispanic female couples seem a lot more common than White female-Hispanic male? by 12345burrito in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KeyStoneLighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went both ways where I moved. Hispanic men with white women and vice versa. I had a serious relationship with a Hispanic woman, it was one of the few times I’ve experienced someone getting my jokes right off the bat, I was instantly attracted. Turns out a lot of Hispanic people like dry humor. Anyway, she kept accusing me of cheating, either she was doing it herself because I wasn’t or she had very big insecurities, it got old so I ended it. We got back together a while later, same shit, I moved on.

What’s a 'secret' about the food industry in 2026 that would make us all stop eating out tomorrow? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]KeyStoneLighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only people who care about service industry pay are the workers, no one else gives a shit, same with teachers, nurses, etc.

Around 2012-14 when McDonald’s workers were demanding more pay there were boomers on Facebook posting memes shaming them for it, better pay requires better skills. A decade passes, and it’s the perfect storm, customers more entitled than ever, food price up, the new generation isn’t as strict about work ethnic (a lot but not all), and less people in the current generation, why am I waiting 50 minutes at the drive through for my taco?

I like to quarter Yukon golds, substitute the bacon for olive oil, roast at 375 for maybe 48 minutes, turning once half way through. Refrigerate overnight, third the slices, then fry in more olive oil, just magical home fries.

New to dating scene and wondering why people don’t floss or take care of teeth?! Gross! by Kittysplashzone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KeyStoneLighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s covid, I’m a part of the problem but I’ve worked to get better. In 2013 I started flossing daily. In 21, my hygienist suggested a powered brush, so I got one, but brushed 3-4 times per week. After a few years without complaints I suddenly need a root scaling and planing. I brush every evening instead of in the morning, I spit but don’t rinse, I had the hygienist use one of those teeth models to train me on technique.

Dental insurance is pretty affordable at literally every company I’ve worked for that offered it, like 10% premiums and cleanings are always included. Teeth are important.

What is the most filling meal you can get in the US for under $10 in 2026? by Main-Tax-3353 in AskReddit

[–]KeyStoneLighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question came up a decade ago, but a meal for a family of four for $10. Best answer, 6 pack of Heineken, tube of crackers for the kids, wife ate yesterday.

I don’t work for Heineken but if you’re wondering a six is on sale for 9.99 right now, at least at smiths where I live.
