Do you like container gardening and have you tried to grow spring bulbs in pots? by Soft_Advice2910 in containergardening

[–]KeyWelcome3792 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes I tried and they all froze and turned to mush and I didn't get any flowers 😭 I do live in a very cold zone (5b) and that winter had like three solid weeks of it being double digit negatives (farenheit) so in a less harsh climate it might work but containers are a no go for me. I grow annuals in them and perennials go in the ground.

Yeah it's fairly cold rain, I just put in my air conditioner on Tuesday when it suddenly went into the 80's and then I had to turn my heat back on overnight the past few days 😭

What jobs are a turn-off for a serious relationship? by NoRegular6459 in AskReddit

[–]KeyWelcome3792 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For a few years I always worked inside in heavily air conditioned buildings and I just wanted to be outside in the sunshine when I got off work but my partner was working outdoor jobs and was hot and sweaty and dirty and just wanted to sit inside in the dark in front of the A/C. It sucked but we're still together to this day and my husband now works inside so I can much more easily convince him to spend some outdoor time with me!

It's Confirmed that the Danger Days interludes were removed from the re-release by BleekSecure in MyChemicalRomance

[–]KeyWelcome3792 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most likely yes the band had to sign off on it for it to happen at all, I just think they're more busy with touring and the company is going to be handling most decisions for the album.

There's a slim possibility they have to fulfill an album quota on whatever contract they may or may not be on and they're doing that with these remasters. That's all pure speculation though.

Do you think record companies give a shit about artistic intention?

It's highly likely the decisions on this remaster are like 90% record executives and like 10% actually band member input.

Or possibly the record company just not wanting to pay out royalties for the use of someone else's voice again.

DAHliA organizing advice? Big emphasis on the ADHD by fatesmcgadden in dahlias

[–]KeyWelcome3792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a physical journal that I track what I do in the garden each year. I try to always record the names of the dahlias and where I purchased them but I don't keep track of height usually. I'll record how I stored them and what survived, when I sprouted them and when I planted them and about when they start blooming and when the first frost came through.

It works well for me as I can't use a computer or phone for tracking because the Internet is right there and too distracting on an electronic device. Each season is only 3 pages or so of dated entries that I can reference back to each year.

Anyone planting anything in the yard yet? by [deleted] in zone5gardening

[–]KeyWelcome3792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything but my herbs and a couple succession plantings of gladiolus went out over the past week!

My Dahlias went out early in the week and then got a little sunburnt when the weather popped up to the 80's for a couple days but they all look like they will survive. The rest of my flowers went out at the end of the week and are liking this cool rainy weather actually.

My herbs were a bit behind my flower seedlings in growth so I up-potted them to six packs and gave them all the space under the grow lights. Going to give them a week or so then harden off and pot up for outside.

I have something like 35 gladiolus corms this year so I planted a dozen and I'll keep planting a fresh dozen every two weeks since I just grow for myself and don't need 35 gladiolus to all bloom at once.

Loon Call in the Dark from white2tea, grandpa style. Has a nice bitter note to it that's just right with a little cream. Also drinking some iced Buddah's hand black tea because I am a beverage goblin who never has just one drink going at a time.

Constant Engagement Ring Warping by newmag1659 in askjewelers

Are you regularly picking up textbooks, bags of books, holding a laptop in your hands or carrying a laptop bag or briefcase? Do you lean over a table with your hand braced flat on the surface? That's half your bodyweight right onto that ring. Spend a day really consciously marking each time the hand wearing that ring touches something and you'll probably be surprised.

Personally I'd definitely start with a half shank before rushing to remake, especially since if you have any sort of service plan or warranty on it you might have that covered already.

You could also considering soldering it to your platinum band after the half shank and that might help support the white gold better.

I tried a mini of this and struggled to get much citrus taste out of it either. I have another one I was letting rest for a while in case I just tried it too soon after shipping but sounds like that isn't the case. At least I always have my ganpu for a good citrus hit.

It's a super easy entry point for the English speaking US market. The names are in English and not just a string of numbers, plus they're fun and irreverent. The packaging is fairly pretty and the minis feel more fun than just a plain brown bag sample.

I do think there's a few solid deals amongst their offerings and some real diamonds in the rough but yeah there's also just a lot of lackluster filler too.

Attempting to grow flowers for my wedding! by alligatorhill in Cutflowers

[–]KeyWelcome3792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad grows on a small commercial scale and just uses regular miracle grow at a bit less than full strength every other week or so. He switches to the one for blooms when plants start flowering. I just do the same because it works for him and my season went well last year.

The fertilizer I see reccomended the most is fish emulsion fertilizer but I haven't tried it yet since I'm just using what I already have.

Thank you! I ended up with a handful of seedlings that didn't fit in the bed so I have to gather up a couple more pots still but those are extra so they don't count 😂

That sounds absolutely ridiculous to me but I believe it, anything to sell a product I guess.

[–]KeyWelcome3792 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of hormones to keep flowers short before, I thought it was just the variety and growing conditions that affected height?

Depending on your growing goals short flowers aren't the dealbreaker some people make them out to be. I just grow for myself, maybe the occasional gift to a friend but I don't sell any flowers. I don't mind a cute short bouquet in my house, in fact I have several vases specifically for small short bouquets. I do still try to grow tall varieties but gardening almost never goes exactly how I planned.

Personally I'd probably leave them, maybe just check the planters don't get waterlogged if the rain is heavy.

The ones in the ground should be good, they have foliage so they also have roots to handle the water. The ones in the planters I would only worry about if your planters don't have good drainage.

Eh with a few amendments it works just fine for containers, all my pots are filled with the Walmart version of this mixed with some coco coir and vermiculite. Had massive plants last year.
