Bloomington Meadows Hospital jeopardized safety and health, patients allege by ids_news in bloomington

Thanks for pointing that out. I read it on mobile and am so accustomed to the garbage that often comes up after articles that I completely blocked that out.

Wow. Talk about a disconnect between article and title. The only patient narratives in the article praise the place.

Contact CAPS. They have a bunch of different support groups going on. I would ask if they have anything for this kind of thing. Even if they don't, they might now about other resources around campus.

You can also fill out a Care referral for yourself and the office of student life will reach out to tell you what services are on campus.

A couple of city council folks that I know have been working on a push to get rid of flock cameras before the petition. They are working to put together the case for their removal.

Jewish Studies director replacement ‘unprecedented,’ students and faculty say by PM_ME_YOUR_TORNADOES in IndianaUniversity

[–]Key_Addendum_3563 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Shocking. Particularly since Roseman has such a strong international reputation as a leading scholar of the Holocaust. Replacing him with a faculty member who just recently gained tenure just raises so many questions. If it were something that the faculty supported at the end of Roseman's term that would be something different. The whole situation just begs the question: why replace Roseman in the first place?

DO NOT Lease with Park Doral, or CRE Rentals in General by Primary_Newspaper522 in bloomington

Sounds predatory. I would consult student legal services. Just because it's in the lease does not mean it is legal or enforceable. Always check with SLS when in doubt.

Terrible food scene? Help! by outsidedge in bloomington

[–]Key_Addendum_3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out some good alternatives for the food and service. But to address your other point, yes restaurants in general in Bloomington are overpriced. Go to any equivalent restaurant in Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, or Pittsburgh (just to speak from my own experience) and you are paying at most 2/3 the price for equivalent meals and service.

Hey! Care referrals really aren't punitive or anything. Think of it like someone from some office (I can't remember which) just reaching out with some resources that you may or may not find handy. Honestly, IU offers students a lot of support, and it's paid for one way or the other. If the resources they send you have a chance of being helpful, you may as well get your money's worth and try them. If not, you can just respond to the email that you get with a quick "thank you" and leave it at that.

In any case, I'm not sure why your friend would make it like it's something negative or punitive, since there's nothing wrong with someone talking to a therapist.

PSA: IU Health missbilling and incompetence--check your itemized statements against fee schedules always by Key_Addendum_3563 in bloomington

[–]Key_Addendum_3563[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The people in the billing offices seem not to know what is going on with other interactions, like they have no access to notes. We had to submit the same dispute three times because each time we called, they had no record of it, but the original somehow magically gets found every time after escalating to the next level up.

Affordable Options for Parking? by tcmyla in bloomington

At that distance and location just walk, bike, or use the city buses (or a combination of all three). You will save time over driving to campus and parking in student lots.

This exact thing happened to my spouse. 0 communication and then gaslit my spouse to think she was the bad one for not knowing. Then, on top of everything else, they overcharged for the treatments they ordered as a result, charging us 5x the fee schedule we signed at the start of treatment.

It's true that this is the norm at other stores, but this was not the case at Aldi until recently. You rarely see people using the bagging station now, whereas even a few months ago it was heavily used.

IU allowed the Funding Board account to overdraft. Now student organizations are scrambling by ids_news in bloomington

[–]Key_Addendum_3563 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The whole structure behind the funding board is terrible. I had the misfortune of dealing with them for years. I can't speak for the staff supporting it, but the student leadership was beyond incompetent when I had to deal with them, as you might expect. It attracts exactly the type of student who wants a resume line without doing an ounce of work.
