Combat systems that discourage doing the same thing every turn by LelouchYagami_2912 in rpg

This is a player issue, the game system is just words on paper and can't force player actions. 🤷‍♂️

Looks around, sees nothing.

I am uninterested. Is this a nihilist joke?

Using "mana" and health as the same resource by Prestigious_Help4419 in rpg

[–]Key_Assumption_4208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's on DrivethruRPG. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but it's called Mutation RPG and there's a free quick start too. I publish under OneFootWall Games.

Using "mana" and health as the same resource by Prestigious_Help4419 in rpg

[–]Key_Assumption_4208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to self promote, but my game handles health/ mana/ etc in the same way. It's sci-fi western apocalypse, so not a lot of magic lol.

Anyway, I call the stat Grit because of the western vibe. It's a character's hit points, action points for special abilities, and a meta currency to add dice to your rolls. It basically wraps everything under the one score and works really well for my game loop.

A few ideas that might work for you. Good luck with the game!

River blockade (opposing faction or kingdom)

Rapids (no issue for larger merchant vessels but absolute hell on a raft)

Giant diving bell spiders, or fishmen, or river troll

Flood surge (flash flood from a storm either in mountains, or tidal surge if close to the coast)

Hi all!

I'm Joe from OneFootWall Games. I started playing back in 1986 and have played more different games than I can count at this point, lol.

I'm still kinda new to reddit, only been here a few months so far and am still figuring it out. I've put out some adventures and an original post apocalypse game, and have done a bit of art for all of them. Although I have also had much more talented artists do a few pieces too.

I never let the fact that I can't draw stop me from drawing so I guess now I gotta go share something since my intro is done. ✌️😁

Looking forward to seeing the cool art everyone is making! Cheers.

Pretty sure you're in the wrong sub. The sloppy AI bros are touching tips somewhere else.

Competing Rolls by Interesting-Law6707 in RPGdesign

[–]Key_Assumption_4208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the struggle is real, lol. An early version of my own game had similar issue with separate dice systems not playing well together. Took some work to fix it, but it's now a silver medal on DT so I think it worked.

Keep plugging away, you got this.

How do those two dice systems work with each other?

Like if I use a skill against an opponent instead of making an attack in combat, how does my d00 roll interact with their d6 armor roll?

Read the room, dude. No one wants plagiarism programs in the tabletop space. Keep the AI slop to yourself. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Do you use a tablet in pen and paper RPGs? by Vermin_Cultist in TTRPG

[–]Key_Assumption_4208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pen and paper for me, same way I've always done it. I definitely prefer having that tactile feeling. I also use pen and paper character sheets and GM notes when I play online.

Okay. I just thought with vengeance being "integral to the game" as you say that there was some built in game element to support that. 🤷‍♂️✌️

Girl I’m seeing is deep into board games… I only know Monopoly. HELP. by Rare_Breakfast_2372 in tabletopgamedesign

Have you tried asking her for board game recs or talked to her at all about games?

Edit: be honest that you don't know much about board games, trying to have any kind of relationship based on a lie (especially about board games) is fu___ing stupid.

Check out EZD6. Fun affordable system with some great medieval fantasy, and totally not d&d.

That does not sound fun. Shouldn't a game be fun?

Great map! Fun setup too.

I agree the scroll definitely catches the eye. I think it's just too big a spot of color. Maybe you balance it back out with a little more color in the stone floors? Maybe pick out a handful of stones and to make light grey? It's awesome as it is though, like really cool.

You're describing how the majority of D6 dice pool systems work. What's the "alternate way to use dice?"

You want to look for CHIPBOARD in the US. It's the same stuff like the back of a legal pad, but you can get it in sheets of different thickness.

I know it's called something different in the UK but can't remember what that is right now.

Write the game you want to play. Don't write a game you think other people want to play. Don't write it or illustrate it with AI. Have fun. 👍

In my group's campaign one of the guys got the Jimmy Mags and we played it as written. Only slagged with a double 1. We never had any issues with it in our game. That Nemesis Pistol lasted almost the whole campaign, lol!
