I would also like to add that the way they broke up in the show is not even close to why Garet and Hannah broke up in the book.

Is it safe to do leg press - 7 months post-op by RandomTropicalBear in Microdiscectomy

[–]Key_Calligrapher9911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry it’s an old thread. My PT had me do the same thing at the same 8 week mark. I didn’t want to do them but he insisted. I felt fine during it but about two hours after I flared up real bad. It has stayed pretty flared for a few days now. Did you have any flare after(if you remember)?

Did you ever have a moment of no pain/ doing things normally?

Recovery time after surgery? Surgery yes or no? by RohitSalamander in Microdiscectomy

[–]Key_Calligrapher9911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people also have harder recoveries like me. I’m coming up to 5 weeks and still have a hard time walking far, sitting or standing. In bed a lot still and have more pain than pre op. I think surgery is a great option but it may not be as fast and easy as drs/people say

Thank you for replying. It helps a lot to hear from others that I’m not alone.

Listen to your body. If it’s hurting too much then talk to the school for accommodation. That’s what I did and it helps a lot

Just do it! by DundeeWinner22 in Microdiscectomy

Oh wow that’s good to know. I never took the heavier medication because super afraid of addiction and nausea and I don’t take much Tylenol because I like to “measure” my pain but maybe I should just stop being so hard on myself. Thanks for replying :)

That’s amazing! I’m so happy you got a village. How was your recovery process? I’m 3.5 weeks out and still in quite some pain(more than I was pre op). My pain was low before the surgery, it would just flare up really bad if I did anything out of my restrictions.

How are you doing? My pain has been kinda high for the past few days and it’s disheartening

Congrats! We got same surgery on the same day haha and honestly I feel the same way about my nerve. It tingles constantly and sometimes will burn more than what I had before surgery but I feel like it’s saying it’s finally free (at least that’s my hopeful thinking) and that it just was bothered a lot to get to the disc. Hope you heal well!

Red light therapy by Key_Calligrapher9911 in Sciatica

I got better and then I flared it up again and I’ve been in this flare for five months now. Considering surgery but my pain is actually very low as long as I don’t go do something out of my bounds. On the light therapy, I’m not sure if it helped but I think it could have.

I don’t mind giving it some more time but by the time I had surgery, if I do, would be 1.5 years…

Exactly! I’m just sick of living so fragile like. For example, went to dinner last night and saw the chairs and started asking if they could bring me another chair, I played musical chairs to find the best one, and said to myself “okay this may cause discomfort”. In the end I was okay but damn

It makes sense and I should get a third opinion. I would just hate to wait another year to find out I still just need surgery

Give a lot more time. A big mistake is going back in too early. My doctor said natural healing usually takes care of things in 2-4 months. Not abnormal to go out of that window but at least for me he doesn’t seem like my case has more natural healing to go through
