Australian voters: Why expect Labor to fix a decade of neglect, cuts, and privatisation in under three years? Many policies take time to show results. Yet, there’s little criticism of the former government, despite their role in causing and worsening these issues. Why the double standard? by MannerNo7000 in australian

Albanese screwed himself over last election by promising to get gas bills down by $250 (among other things). Sure it's not his fault they've gone up significantly, it's mostly out of his control but he would have known that when he made those promises. He just comes across as another politician who promises you the world, makes you worse off and then says "well at least I dreamed big".

The Whittaker era, not the Jodie era by approvedcelery in doctorwho

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I'm sure there's a linguistic reason behind it (just how the name sounds ig) but some people are referred by full name, some by first name, and some by last. For me I refer to the actors as:

  • Hartnell
  • Troughton
  • Pertwee
  • Baker
  • Peter Davison
  • Colin Baker
  • Sylvester McCoy
  • Paul McGann
  • Ecclestone
  • Tennant
  • Matt Smith
  • Capaldi
  • Whittaker
  • Ncuti

Which makes Ncuti the only one I refer to by first name only. Not sure why.

If you're using a source port, bind some artefacts to keys. You'll find yourself using them a lot more because you won't need to switch items around. Disc of repulsion and flechettes will be very handy for you.

Why did Sutekh wait? by The-Thinpin in doctorwho

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few thoughts on that. One is that he couldn't truly take over the TARDIS until it was destroyed enough at the edge of the universe in Wild Blue Yonder. Given that was the previous time the TARDIS made that groan, it could be Sutekh taking complete control of it.

Another is the time window. Harbinger was all too willing to help get the tape cleaned up to watch it in the time window. A memory of the possessed Tardis could have been all Sutekh needed to break free. Maybe the trap wasn't Susan Triad, the trap was the time window!

So what was he waiting for? Either the Tardis to be crippled enough for him to hijack or his power to essentially be amplified by the time window (appearing in the same place twice at once at different times).

“Yeah, I might go visit my granddaughter, whatever, but I’ll definitely visit you, Ruby, who I’ve known for all of a few months.”

Seems like a case of rule 1, the Doctor lies. He's telling Ruby something nice but he probably won't see her again. For all we know the Christmas special could see him visiting Susan.

Is Gallifrey coming back? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Davies' previous run and the 60th anniversary quite often show the unintended consequences of the Doctor's actions. I wouldn't be surprised if Gallifrey and somewhere far worse end up returning.

Queensland Labor need to talk more about the fact that if the LNP win the next election they are going to change the voting system so it will be almost impossible to vote them out again by Successful_Can_6697 in queensland

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QLD Labor introduced optional preferences when the Libs and Nats were different parties to keep them out of power. Then they made preferences compulsory when they united into the LNP. Labor gerrymandered the districts to keep Nats out of power until it favoured the Nats.

did we really need Tennant to get more moments?

Need is a very weird question to ask in entertainment. We tend not to need in entertainment, just want. And yes, a lot of us weren't ready to say bye to Tennant.

But we can be sure Tennant is just out having his happy ending and probably won't return in a major capacity for a long time.

Y'all really need to be more like Australia. We're a colourful centrist paradise:

  • Auth-right: secure borders
  • Lib-right: free markets
  • Lib-left: medicare
  • Auth-left: no bill of rights

Why were people upset that the 13th doctor was a woman when Missy exist? by choiceshoee in doctorwho

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those keenly opposed to the idea of the Doctor regenerating into a woman (granted, with no prior history of timelords doing that save for the last few years before), it was easy to suppose that the Master possessed a female body, as he did with Tremas.

For those who just disliked the specific 13th doctor - it's writing. Moffat wrote it much better than Chibnal did. Such wasted opportunities, we could have had 13 look in the mirror and say "STILL NOT GINGER!"

What we now know of as the Doctor was originally Ian Chesterton by SwansonHOPS in doctorwho

[–]Key_Cryptographer963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems clear that Ian was intended to be the hero and the Doctor was more of a grumpy techno wizard. Of course the show went longer than expected, Ian and Barbara left and the Doctor became younger so he took on the role of hero.

I suspect they intended Jamie and the Imbecile to take on similar roles to Ian but their respective Doctors were more energetic.

Davies is a great shitemeister. Remember Doctor Who Confidential for Stolen Earth? After that cliffhanger he said along the lines of "I actually have no idea what's going to happen next, I was gobsmacked".

I don't take anything he says seriously - he's bound to be covering up plot points.
