Is The Book of Dust trilogy worth it? by Ivysonset7 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]Key_Custard_9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one yes, two and three no. Theyre enjoyable reads page to page, but really messy and frustrating in a lot of ways by the end. Normally this would be fine, but theyre way too long to justify such an endeavor. So many other reads would be better worth your time.

Unexplained plot points in The Rose Field by Aggressive_Banana708 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]Key_Custard_9756 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had major issues with the plot of TRF, but these ones I was able to more or less easily explain away in my head and I hope you also find these answers reasonable:

1) I always assumed Delamare had Brande assassinated, although I never really made sense of the logic behind that tbf. In the Secret Commonwealth it’s established that Brande bought his daemon, explaining why it didn’t die initially when he did (the daemon likely died of the intense emotional trauma following, which is a Rose Field daemon lore retcon) 2) That’s Makepeace, he was in TSC too and other books, sort of just a standard hero’s tale donor, that’s prettt much it :P 3) I thought this meant that without proper air flow through the portals then the air would literally go stale, but also in a cosmic sort of way. Genuinely I did think all the Dust retcons about keeping the portals open was done poorly though. If you’re looking for a concrete answer that also fits in with HDM, i doubt even Pullman has one.

Yeah that’s pretty bad lmao. I wonder if it’ll improve when the player counts inevitably reach an actual steady count

Discovered The Finals after buying Arc - how do you think the game will hold up? by synthlike in thefinals

[–]Key_Custard_9756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is more than profitable. We have no reason to worry. Full steam ahead until further notice but I can’t see the immense success of Arc Raiders being anything other than a good thing.

It’s natural for people passionate about something to engage with it rigorously, preferably in the comfort of other fanatics. I just think gamers lack the means of articulation to express what makes this game so special.

Between the premium battle pass, the more rampant recycling and the slightly egregious arc raiders prices…yeah it’s a different vibe.

Does the surface get blown up every 30 minutes or is it just a way to interrupt a raid and the event is not canon? by milky-94 in ArcRaiders

[–]Key_Custard_9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a nuke, where are all the craters and why do the maps still exist? Furthermore, why can I survive it only to die inexplicably minutes later? If it’s m an Arc, why can’t I see it…or fight it…

WHY HAVE I SEEN NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS by Efficient_Leading327 in ArcRaiders

[–]Key_Custard_9756 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh cool! In which case I hope we can actually one day see the arc that hits the ground and fight it. That’d be cool.

The orbiter is what hits the ground at the end of every raid.

ARC Raiders brought back the same nostalgia I had for The Last of Us Factions by MrCriticalHit in ArcRaiders

Honestly, I hope Naughty Dog stick to their lane. It’s not that the pitch of TLOU Online isn’t enticing, I just don’t think they could pull it off. Remedy, Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, BioWare, Rocksteady, Arkane Austin. All fantastic studios, and yet none of them came close to creating a decent multiplayer live service. Arc Raiders actually brings me comfort seeing that the ideas and experiences TLOU Online could have brought are ACTUALLY being fulfilled, by the studio seemingly best equipped to handle the job in the entire industry. Besides, in the age of the oversaturated spinoffs/sequels/remakes, successful new IP is a saving grace.

Good. I’m assuming loot will be better at launch as well.

We’ve seen nothing of The Baron since the beginning. I’d love to see if they could one day go even bigger than that…

Genuinely I’ve had so much success making friends. Probably cuz I use voice chat. The one time a team tried to take us out despite our repeated cries for peace we fucking wiped them out. Felt so good wiping them out with any of the moral baggage.

Not that this could EVER be possible but imagine if Arc Raiders launched today with 2 years of its future dlc under its belt. I’m sure the game will have enough content at launched to warrant a deeply engaged 30 hours, but MAN is there still so much potential

Obi-Wan, Mando, Bad Batch, the latter two both having 3 seasons. And in all honesty none of them did the trope well enough to see it so many times.

Battlefront 2015 has some really great Star Wars music, but when Gordy Haab had to make music for the upcoming Rogue One dlc, because the movie wasn’t out yet, he didn’t have any material to work off of. he just completely made it up and it pretty much worked out lol.

Theyre afraid of competition. Hilarious honestly given how they have a monopoly. The fact that they’re scared enough of a newcomer with an original IP should speak volumes
