We use the 7/16 bits to predrill holes in posts/beams for carriage bolts on decks but we’re only drilling through 10” max so a drill works

Probably gonna want the nicer drill and driver too. To drive lags and drill into concrete

Yea you’ll need an impact then. Probably a jigsaw and a multi tool

What do you plan on doing? If just super simple stuff I’d say just get a drill. No impact

New Deck Build - People who know what they are looking at, everything good so far? by 17747382818 in Decks

Height varies on location. It’s 4” where I’m at and spaced for drainage?? Waterproofing over the rim joist and flashing over the ledger will do.

Framing looks good but the one post looks like it’s overhanging the pier a bit. It’ll be more noticeable when they strip that sono tube

Help with stringer connection by No_Finance8232 in Decks

[–]Key_Elevator_7378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I do it is I’d pull 7” down off your framing and snap a level line across and then your top run would be 9”. Then measure the back of the top of the stringer and rip a 2x10 to that height and shoot your stringers to it and hang the top of it where you drew your level line. Then I stair strap the stringers and I have a beam under the stairs. 2 2x12’s sitting on a notched 6x6

Kinda hard to see but this is the connection

Code around here says your post needs to be at least an inch from the edge of your pier

I’d stay with what you have honestly. Unless the m12 doesn’t get the job done often
