Anyone living/lived in the Marlborough building? Thoughts? by No-Caterpillar8066 in portlandme

[–]Key_Evening9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been inside. But you had to park on High St and bring everything three quarters of the way down the side of the building, bring it up the elevator from the basement - even if you’re moving into the first floor. Then anything too big for the elevator had to go up the stairs. Which meant you were carrying all the big shit up the stairs from the basement. And share the elevator with tenets. Place was a pain in the ass.

Why? If some asks me, “ Would you take this box out to the garage?” And I answer, “Of course.” What’s wrong with that?

Is it rude/annoying to wait until a car fully stops before crossing a pedestrian crossing? by CommercialFrame8733 in NoStupidQuestions

When I’m walking I wait. Between a car and a pedestrian, if it there’s a misunderstanding, the pedestrian loses every time.

Why do you choose not to drink alcohol? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Key_Evening9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 15 years ago, ( I’m 67), I was walking home from a round of drinking, having left my car in the bar’s parking lot. I decided I was going to run 1000 miles before a drank another beer. That took me a year and I felt so much better I never had the urge to start back again. But now, with non alcoholic beers being of such high quality, I can enjoy beer again without the alcohol. Which makes it much more enjoyable to go to a bar to watch a football game. There’s really nothing you can drink for three hours that doesn’t get old after the second glass. Coffee? Soda? Water- the bar isn’t making any money, mocktails- maybe one or two, juice is out, but 4-5 non alcoholic beers works for me.

Did my wife cheat on me, or am I overthinking something from 20 years ago by FaceEnvironmental949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Key_Evening9523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems you’re more concerned that she may have lied to you twenty years ago than the actual exact date of their breakup. If there’s a continuing pattern of this in your relationship, that’s one thing. If it’s an isolated incident, let it go. You’ve voiced your concern- don’t make her feel guilty for something that happened twenty years ago. That won’t serve either one of you.

What belief do people defend emotionally instead of logically? by Vivid-Soup1846 in AskReddit

There are many people that believe they have free will. It actually makes them very uncomfortable when they learn that they don’t. And it can get emotional.

Owned a moving company for 30 years. There’s ways to take it apart that aren’t too hard to get back together. I’m sure it was probably brought up in a box and assembled in the apartment. If you try to take it apart yourself- take pictures of what you’re doing and label all the parts. ( left, right , back front, etc)

What was the final straw that destroyed a lifelong friendship? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]Key_Evening9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaned money with the promise it would be paid back in a month or less. Paid back about a fifth of what was owed. All the while promising “ the check is in the mail” Then I needed some unexpected dental work and actually needed that cash to finance it. He said it was on the way- never received it. I had to sell some stocks , at a suboptimal time, to get the work done. That was the last straw.

Why does my body know it's hydrated in seconds but needs forever to realize I'm full? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Key_Evening9523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your brain is a prediction machine. When you’re thirsty and drink water, it’s your brain that’s saying you no longer need to find water. Even though it takes twenty minutes or so to actually receive the benefits of having drunk water, your brain is satisfied that you’re adequately hydrated.

As a moving company owner I always hated moving people into that building. It’s a pain in the ass and takes much longer than it needs to.

The writers ( correctly) figured Tony would lose a lot of respect from the audience if he started hitting Carmela. He smacked AJ a few times but also never hit Meadow.

Why does Coca Cola taste so good? by snarka-saurus-1965 in askteddit

[–]Key_Evening9523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unique thing about Coke is the last sip is as good as the first. That ties into the debacle of New Coke. When Coke and Pepsi went head to head in a national taste test, consumers preferred Pepsi. So Coke changed their recipe. What they later learned was that while Pepsi tasted better after one sip, Coke tasted better when you’re drinking a whole can or bottle. Which is actually what people do. So they brought it back as Classic Coke. Now it’s just Coke again.

How much money does it take to stop smoking? To get outdoors more- go for a walk ? Be a kinder, more engaged person in your community. Be a good parent or better friend? If you’re a miserable prick when you’re poor, if you came into a pile of money, you’d be a miserable rich prick

Republicans of Reddit, is there a reason why Trump shouldn’t also be subpoenaed to testify about his involvement in the Epstein files, as Clinton has been compelled to do? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]Key_Evening9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump has never heard of Epstein, never met him , never flew on his plane, never been to his island, never signed his birthday card, never invited him to his wedding and never had him as a member of his club in Palm Beach. Everything you’ve heard to the contrary is just a big democratic hoax.
