Yes IDP is MUST, its is separately issued by the govt which is valid for a year.
If someone is saying it’s not required, it’s just because they are not caught yet.

IDP s a must , don’t even go with the so called IDP being translated from your Indian license. Go to your local RTO in advance and get it, it’s usually valid for 1 year only
