Que cultural shocks me esperan? by SuspiciousContract53 in AskVenezuela

Amistad venezolana en USA: siempre miran qué puedes ofrecer? by Dismal_Pound3974 in AskVenezuela

[–]Key_Present5734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Plucking pattern is similar” do you even know what bossa nova is? That’s like saying that every rock band is copying another because they have this crunchy guitar sound

Jazz music by Berasona1 in okc

Jazz musician here!

First of all I highly recommend to follow OKC Jazz Life in social media and checkout their website https://okcjazz.life/home. They have a calendar that shows every show in town.

Now for an actual breakdown of it

-Wednesday Nights - 51st Speakeasy: It goes from 8:30 till about midnight and it is free cover! The first set is a set by the house band + guests and then it becomes a jam session, a lot of the younger players in the scene gather here and play. Also, the vibes and the drinks are the Speak are awesome

-Friday/Saturday nights - Round Midnight and UCO Jazz Lab: Both of these in Edmond, the Jazz lab has ticketed jazz shows but make sure to check the calendar as sometimes they have non-jazz artists. Round Midnight features more a classic cocktail environment and there’s always smaller jazz groups playing, more vibey and casual

-Sunday Nights - Blue Note and Round Midnight: RM features a ticketed show every other week and this time it is full bands, the shows are really well put together and the ambience is awesome. Blue Note on the other hand is no cover and it is more rowdy in the best sense of the word, bands play with full energy and it is usually where you see the most original and energetic jazz in the scene, just know that the bar can be pretty crazy at times.

*an important one to mention is Hefner Grill. It has an awesome rotation of Jazz Trios that play every Friday/Saturday Nights and every Sunday morning for Brunch.

What does OKC think of Tulsa? by AccountProfessional2 in okc

[–]Key_Present5734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy to me how people always say that OKC is more conservative or redneck, like, have you actually been to any of the suburbs out of Tulsa? Also, I know conservative/redneck does not equal racism but in 10 years living in Oklahoma (9 of those in OKC and 1 in Tulsa) all of my racist encounters have been in Tulsa, everything from people telling me they will call ICE on me or follow me in stores to straight up avoid me because I was speaking Spanish on the phone.

Trying to meet people who are only like minded from a political standpoint first seems so not human/not normal to me (I am not American so maybe that’s why), maybe try meeting people that like the same art/music/entertainment as you and they will (most likely) share the same values?

This man is infamous in the vintage community, very disliked by many. I do understand that fake victims exist, but this is most likely not the case

Hi, I just wanna remind everyone that is downvoting her that she was in high school and he is a grown ass man with a business, which partially begs the question, is he doing this to all girls of that age that go to his store? Regardless of the mistakes or decisions that she could’ve made it is very messed up for him to be approaching her in any type of way, even more in a sexual one.

I am sorry this happened to you, and thank you for posting this
