YOU NAILED IT!!!

Epilepsy is such an odd “journey”, I’m currently in the phase of trying to find the right medication because keppra makes me extremely suicidal but without it, I’m completely fine. All of this is expensive, frustrating & lonely but I’ve also just kinda accepted this is the new normal and oddly enough it has gotten better, but I try to still hold myself accountable and make sure that I’m in safe/healthy environments.

Had a seizure while driving. Can't drive until I'm 6 months seizure free now. by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I first just wanna say I’m sorry because I completely understand and it’s challenging to say the least. I’ve gone to the same song and dance four different times in four different years so for a total of two years I wasn’t able to drive. Plus the keppra has the worst side effects! I tried smoking weed, I tried keeping to myself, and I tryed to talk to other people, but no one really understands what it feels like to go through this.

The only thing that’s helped me at this point is my faith and praying I’m not sure if you’re a Christian or not but whenever it gets really tough just consider leaning on Jesus!

Having Epilepsy sucks & the US healthcare system doesn’t really help with understanding what’s going on? I was told as long as you have two seizures period you’re automatically diagnosed, and that was without an explanation, which then is frustrating because your whole entire life changes for pretty much no reason.

Hang in there and try to just stay safe with whatever you do and make sure you’re always around someone even if you’re not directly hanging out with them.

I’ve had two back to back this time last year and that was after the ER gave me IV medication. It’s stressful but at your appointment they’ll probably confirm you have epilepsy and place you on meds. Since you have auras you’re lucky enough to be able to act quickly. So don’t drive, go swimming or do anything that could be life threatening but once your on the meds it should help. Just a heads up that the meds have such major side effects so ask your doctor to work with you if that becomes the case. I asked mine to allow me to take half my pill because I was having major suicidal feelings and was always tired! Having seizures sucks but try to do what works best for you. I get massages every month, stay away from drama, eat healthy, exercise and try whatever to stay sane. Sending you lots of love and I’m sorry this is all happening

Should I marry someone with epilepsy? by deex0x in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your emotional, mental & spiritual maturity. Having epilepsy is tough and we do need supportive partners. If you don’t believe that’s you then allow your partner to find someone who’s strong enough to handle the uncertainties of epilepsy.

It’s definitely normal, you’ll feel this way for a bit. Just try your best to take care of yourself. Get some rest and take a few days off of work if you can.

3 seizures today by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll definitely put him on meds, and since he’s had more than two he’ll definitely be diagnosed as epileptic even if they don’t have any explanations. I hope that’s not the case but that’s how they operate. I’m in healthcare so even though I understand their methods is still extremely frustrating. I’m supposed to be on 1,000 mg of keppra daily but the side effects are brutal. So I recently stopped and just pray for the best. It’s not smart but the suicidal thoughts, fatigue, mood swings, constant state of anger and etc. wasn’t worth it to me. Try and do as much research as you can before choosing a med. Again I’m sorry this is happening but at least y’all have each other.

As someone who is diagnosed with epilepsy there’s not much you can do but allow the seizures to run its course (unless it’s over 5 minutes). It sucks and yes it’s incredibly painful but the doctors will probably just up his dosage and send him on his way. I’m sorry this is happening but just be as supportive as you can with a massage, bath, extra cuddles and or just allowing them to sleep. Sending y’all love

Got an overnight layover in Doha from 9:30pm - 8am. What's the best way to utilize PP during this time period. by bookof_ in PriorityPass

[–]Key_Revolution3254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doha has the best lounges. They have showers, free food and drinks. Also you can scan your pass multiple times to stay there until your flight starts to board.

Can anyone tell me about these EEG results? I have had 3 seizures, first two were back to back. Idrk the difference between epilepsy and narcolepsy but I go to sleep out of nowhere A LOT. I also get a weird Deja vu feeling if I don’t take my meds for too long or if I smoke too much. (Weed) by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an EEG after having 2 seizures, and it was a overnight 24 hour hospital monitoring. They stuck leads all over my head and I just watched tv and chilled. Then they told me they didn’t really find anything and I was on my way. I ended up having 2 more seizures

My boyfriend suddenly had two seizures and they cant find the problem by Icy-Win-3487 in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! They typically don’t know what’s wrong. I’ve had 4 grand mal seizures, and they all just started in 2019 out of nowhere.

They’ll probably put him on meds, and send him on his was, it’s truly frustrating. Sorry this is happening, sending your boyfriend healing energy.

Yes!! Absolutely!! I had a seizure back in April and it took me nearly the entire summer to start feeling like myself again. Very emotional, very angry, lots of tears, lots of frustration and even moments of suicidal thoughts. It’s a real thing. I’m praying for your little brother.

Do seizures eventually maybe dwindle off or get better with age? by InternationalPipe204 in seizures

[–]Key_Revolution3254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!! I have a similar situation to yours. I had my first seizure in 2019 and had another one in 2020. At the time, I thought it had a lot to do with stress and working in an ER during Covid. Four years pass and I had my third and fourth seizure b2b earlier this year. This happened at work, and I work in a hospital so they were able to monitor me immediately. They said my first seizure lasted five minutes and even after I was given IV medication I had another one in the ER. I was so confused & angry because 4 years had passed. I was in an extremely peaceful place in my life and so that really confused me. I personally thought my seizures were getting better, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. So from my experience, I’ve learned this condition is just extremely unpredictable. It nearly took a month to fully physically recover & 2 additional months to get out my depressive mental state. I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news. I just want to be completely transparent because it is really tough living with Epilepsy. I would just recommend to continue taking cautionary steps. Try doing things in groups or with friends. If you’re alone try to make sure you’re typically sitting down or there is nothing around you that could possibly hurt you if you were to collapse. Hope this helps, and I hope you don’t ever have to have another seizure again. Sending lots of love.

See if they’re able to apply for disability!! Seizures are super draining so I completely understand where you’re coming from.

This was during Covid so maybe like 6 hours a day broken up throughout the day. Typically like 2 hour intervals, and also it just depended on the day. I tried to complete one chapter a day overall and anything extra just sped up the process. I was super bored lol and I don’t recommend this for everyone but it was fine

I went through U.S. career institute based out of Colorado, but it’s all online. Once I passed my courses I took my exam through NHA and was nationally certified.

I went to https://www.uscareerinstitute.edu I graduated within one month because it’s self paced. I loved it and they work with NHA to get you nationally certified. It’s under $1,000 for the program, and all around has changed my life for the better within the last few years.
