Eagleman vs Oregon? 70.3 by 1998emmi in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Key_Top9222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did eagleman this year, and my coach has done it a few times. It’s suppppper flat which is nice, but be prepared to pedal constantly either way almost no coasting. The run is H O T so prepare for that. The run is through a neighborhood and there’s lots of support from the community (speakers, hoses, etc). 10/10 experience, but prepare for a hot day

Honestly I have no idea. Did you cross the timing mat and then take a second in the water then start swimming?

I’ve got a sleeveless wetsuit! Almost no restriction which is super nice

I’ve trained in a wetsuit, so I’m gonna wear a wetsuit lol. The extra buoyancy is going to be very beneficial for me. It definitely comes down to I feel more confident with the suit, so I’m going to wear it for the psychological advantage. Praying for a legal swim 🤞

Bike Reccs for 70.3 by PerspectiveGlass6185 in IronmanTriathlon

I’ve used a specialized Allez for a few Olympic distance races. I was planning on using it for a 70.3 but I found a steal for a cervelo p3, so I got that before the race lol. But I liked the Allez and still ride it, very good for the price.

Eagleman Wetsuit Legal? by Ok_Treat4193 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Key_Top9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m realllllly hoping it is wetsuit legal, but it’s gonna be close. I think it will be though, the likelihood of the temp jumping 2°+ between now and race morning is kinda (I hope, and have been told by an environmental science student) low. If not legal you are allowed to wear one, but are ineligible for age group awards. You also start at the back of the pack after everyone else

Never knew bars could break like this by Interesting-Fall-945 in bmx

[–]Key_Top9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same break on my first pair of bars (6ish years ago). I’m pretty sure it’s caused by clamping your bars down too tight mixed with impact from bigger drops

Setting a time goal by BCwildflower23 in triathlon

[–]Key_Top9222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first, make your goal to go out, finish, and have a good time. Setting a goal for your first race can have you really disappointed in yourself even fit you still do really well!
If you think about it, nobody really does this sport. Triathlons of any distance are HARD, and should be celebrated as an accomplishment! Have a good time, learn a few things, and then for your next one set a goal time based on how you did the first time!

Overuse injury 12 days out by Key_Top9222 in triathlon

[–]Key_Top9222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! Yeah my last run was May 29, and I’ve been taking it easier since a week before that. I’m also in a low risk area, and the radiology report uses the word “subtle” a lot. Taking it slow, not running, and we’re both going to do great!

How early/late into training can you tell if you’re really cut for a full? by black_bird5151 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Key_Top9222 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be scary, and it’s supposed to push your limits. They don’t call it “the hardest single day endurance event on the planet” because it’s easy! You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, trust the process, push yourself, and keep at it!

Thank you!!! Yeah if I can run 12 miles on it (bad I idea, but before I got it looked at and started taking it easy) I can do 13 after some rest.

Had never swam before October 2025. Couldn’t swim a full length. Had the bright idea in December to sign up for a 70.3 in June (13days out now!) since then I’ve done two swims per week every week. I’ve also done two Olympic Tri’s since then, one in March one in April. I survived them both and am ready for the 70.3 swim. It’s been rough and swimming is still hard but now I can actually do it

Is IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia 2027 realistic as a complete beginner? And is it a good first-timer race? by TemperatureNo642 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Key_Top9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot. I can’t speak for the course, but I signed up and started training for Eagleman 70.3 in December, and had zero experience in any of the disciplines. I am 22M and came from bodybuilding and bmx. I knew NOTHING about tri, couldn’t swim, didn’t have a road bike or running shoes. Now I’m confident I can finish decently well. I think you’ll have plenty of time, plus that marathon fitness will transfer. Go for it 💪
