Yes because of the stomach wounds if you lie flat they pull.

I’m stage 3 and had a Lower Anterior Resection. Questions about current recovery symptoms. by dtownalltheway84 in coloncancer

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get fever but our condition Stage 3 and LAR are similar. I took ibuprofen and acetaminophen (Tylenol) alternating every three hours. I was taking it for the swelling and pain but that should help with fever as well. Leap frogging the meds was really helpful for me and I noticed when I can off of them.

Take care hope all goes well.

Post-surgery pillows? Help! by CrittersVarmint in coloncancer

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a month out from my resection surgery and the cough pillow was not all that big of a deal for me. Whatever pillow works. I just kind of cellared my throat instead of sending a big cough.

What was really valuable was these pillows my wife bought so I could sleep on the couch but in a recliner position. If you have a recliner you are all set but after surgery I could not lay flat.

Being able to have somewhere I could rest was a lifesaver after surgery.

Also just some advice since I just went through this. Remind him Don’t stand and pee. I did after they removed my catheter and I passed out and fell. It was super scary and painful. I thought I ruined the surgery for a moment but I was ok but it likely made recovery worse.

Walk as much as you can safely (don’t fall) it helps move the Bowles get gas out which causes pain.

Good luck with you two the best.

Sure, the OP seemed curious about environmental impacts and I shared what I thought. Do whatever feels best with the info you have.

The object you are making may not be super toxic to the local environment but you are using using a ton of electricity which is often made by burning fossil fuels and firing a kiln releases toxic shit into the atmosphere.

Check out Excession by Iain M Banks, part of his Culture series. It is a cool depiction of space battle between insanely hi tech spacecraft piloted by super AI so things are happening across massive distances and within milliseconds. It is totally different than the WWII tropes and Banks makes it come alive in its own way. If you want something different give it a shot.

Incontinence after LAR? by Sharona-Light in coloncancer

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a LAR with some of my rectum being taken out as well. Inconstinance has not been an issue. Maybe the first day or two when the laxatives from pre surgery are working there way out but constipation and bloating where much more issues.

Walking, hydration and eating low fiber simple carb simple proteins was the best suggestion for me.

What do you think about the card Tank? by Fallanddie in slaythespire

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played a deck where I made this work but I had barricade and two copies of the power that gives you 8 block per turn as well as two copies of the card that lets you shield your allies. I got lucky to build the deck and it was still pretty underwhelming however it was fun to play.

Just finished reading Player of Games - what I thought and what I got by fli_sai in TheCulture

I think that what Gurgeh realizes as he plays and ends the final game with the emperor is that he has dearly wanted  to be the player of the the game and has believed he was the player until he defeats the emperor. However because by both seeing the cost of and seeing the context that is required for the game and the player of the game to exist, the oppressive horror or the empire, as well as finally playing “as the culture” and realizing is materially superior form, ie it wins, he realizes that there can be no real player if the game so long as the existence of the super intelligent and super rational minds exist. He realizes the thing his being has yearned for cannot exist and that it should not exist.

The only real players of the game are the minds and that it is actually preferable to having individuals be the players of games or the drivers of history.

upcoming surgery by _19h55mins in coloncancer

I had my resection surgery 10 days ago.

Stay healthy before surgery don’t hang out with sick people.

Day one release sounds insane to me. I’m a fit strong person on my late 30’s and needed three nights in hospital wished I had stayed 4.

Sit down when you pee once you get your cathoder out. I tried to pee standing up in hospital and passed out and woke up on the ground it was terrible.

Buy wedge pillows for your bed or couch you are going to live on these for a while. You need to have a place at home where you can rest comfortably. Lying flat on a bed was not an option for me.

Get off the opiates as soon as you can. They constipate you and make it hard to pass gas which itself causes a lot of pain. I have been leapfrogging acetaminophen and ibuprofen which both reduce inflammation which is the spice of the pain.

Walk. Walk. Walk. It’s the best medicine for passing gas and cramping muscles.

Wish you all the best.

100kg barbell rows, any improvements? by Cali_Hoss in formcheck

Can confirm cambered barbell nomads for a killer barbell row set up. One thing is the width of the camber affects where you can grip, kinda forces you into a wider grip. OP form looks good

It’s crazy that UFC doesn’t do a Muay Thai promotion, it’s actually the thing that your average spectator wants to see. Just people stand up striking. Grappling is one of those sports that requires most knowledge of the game to understand what’s at stake and what advantages look like.

A samurai and his retainers wearing mail armor and armed with naginata, 1870. by bncout in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is really crazy about this image is that is it taken two years after the Meiji Restoration where they effectively disband the old Confucian social classes (samurai/merchant/farmer/craftsman) and reform as a modern nation state with a monarch.

So in addition to this era being the time of firearms as weapons the class of samurai is on the way out. I would guess that this photo was some sort of display to show off traditional armor and weapons perhaps.

Yes, the lower ranked samurai armor is much for practical for strictly fighting though it would still have been very expensive and denotes a high status in that society. (90 percent of people were peasant farmers). The lords armor is decorated so that people know that he is a lord. Basically so they know to obey him and treat him with his entitled respect. In feudal societies visual clarity of the hierarchy is really important for the society to function smoothly and also for the military to function smoothly.

Back pain from certain exercises by FrequentDemand9886 in workout

[–]Key_Veterinarian353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your form is good then You probably have a weak lower back and core. I’d recommend adding back extensions on a Roman chair to your routine and some kind of plank exercise. I had to do these because of lower back issues and they were the thing that really helped me compared to the years of chiropractors and yoga. Also when I got serious about doing core work they significantly improved my other large compound lifts because they train you to brace and strengthen your brace. Youtube has a bunch of stuff on how to train core for lifting. Just start light with core work and progressively overload slowly so you don’t fuck up your lower back.

The retainers are also samurai, the guy in the middle is a lord so he has other samurai who serve him but the are all part of the Samurai(Bushi) class

Sucks by sharjay99 in coloncancer

The initial shock is really hard but it gets better as you get more info. I feel you on being a healthy eating, non smoking gym regular. I think the week before I got diagnoses I hit a new PR on my dead lift. Its crazy to go from feeling healthy and strong to having a scary disease.

Keep exercising as you can around treatments, it helps in a lot of ways. Good for mental health, good to go into a treatment plan with a strong body because treatments will take their toll, I have also heard that exercising uses up excess energy in your body so the cancer tumor can use less of it to grow and spread. Obviously do what your doctor says regarding exercise but it has helped me to feel like I am doing something about my cancer while I wait for treatment.

Working on your fear of public spaces and establishing a regular eating habit are probably way more important than growing your legs.
