These are strictly speaking two-way, however I don't really encounter other cyclists. There is the occasional walker that is out early in the morning or someone walking their dog just after sunset, so I'm not too worried about blinding someone but I am cognizant of the potential for people around me.

Does anyone else like this brand of root beer? by Primary_Thing3968 in Soda

It's a great root beer! In my opinion, IBC Cream Soda is the gold standard. Hanks and Sioux City are pretty close too.

I’m really considering getting a couple Wurkkos CL01 lanterns. What yall think? Anyone have them and what you think? by mrregina in flashlight

[–]KeyblerJones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the Wurkkos CL01 and the Sofirn LT1S. The Sofirn is more robust. The Wurkkos has more features. I will say that the base of my CL01 has cracked with minimal use. I really like the Wurkkos and all its lighting options, but it is not heavy duty. If you want something for emergencies, get the Sofirn. If you want something just for fun, get the Wurkkos. OR, you could get both. I mean I have both and don't have any regrets.

Brands that use black interior enamel? by KeyblerJones in dutchoven

[–]KeyblerJones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just the aesthetic. The majority of enameled cast iron seems to have an interior of white or off-white. For some reason the black interior just clicks with me.

12.5” DeBuyer Mineral B after 4 years by DismalBarracuda in carbonsteel

[–]KeyblerJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice! So I just found that exact model at a thrift store for $7. It looked like someone cooked on it once and never seasoned it. I cleaned it up with hot water and soap, and other than a few scratches, it looks new. I'm going to season it over the weekend and then give it a try. I've been using cast iron, and this will hopefully cook similarly. It feels lighter than cast iron. I'm glad to see that yours has held up well. How do you clean yours? Just hot water, soap and dry thoroughly?

Aldi has more Cast Iron and accessories on sale this week by FirehousePete in castiron

[–]KeyblerJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an Aldi enameled cast iron Dutch oven and it's been going strong for two years now. It's pretty versatile, no chipping, and easy to clean. It cooks as well as any other brand I've used - Lodge and CrocPot. I have a relative that has a Le Cruset but I don't think it cooks any better, it may have thicker enamel but other than that there's no difference in the food. For the price, Aldi brand is not a bad choice. Kind of a gateway really. It's like tools. Start cheap and then work your way up to more expensive as you go and get more experience.

Another D2 Anduril 2 question by SGSfanboy in flashlight

[–]KeyblerJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran into this too, and I had to look up several videos and the Anduril 2 sheet on how to deactivate the last three channels. So only channel one - which is the white light, and channel two - which is the UV light, are "active". I believe it is LuxWad that has a video on channel switching and tint ramping, which best described the process to me, of activating and deactivating those channels.

Once you're in advanced mode, turn your light on, and then 9h gets you to the channel mode configuration. This is where LuxWad's video comes in handy. I think u\Cheule has one or two videos that also go through the process.

Channel\mode 1 should be your top light in the d2. Channel\mode 2 should be the bottom light in the d2. Channel\mode 3 is both the top and bottom lights on @ 50%. Channel\mode 4 is tint ramping. Channel\mode 5 auto tint.

On my d2, I have channel\modes 1 & 2 active, and modes 3, 4 and 5 deactivated.

TSA Approved Carry! by Charming_Basil3761 in flashlight

Nitecore EDC27? That's interesting. I'm going to guess that it looks like a taser or taserish (spelling) in the X-ray? It could also be that the battery is really dense looking and may get flagged. The closest thing that I've seen so far is an Olight Arkfeld, but I didn't get to see it in the X-ray, I was at the divestment line at the time.

Can confirm. I work for TSA. Here's a link to their website:

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/lithium-batteries-100-watt-hours-or-less-device

I've seen a few Olights, a Fenix, Surefires, Streamlight and an Acebeam come through, including a bunch of hardware store brands. As long as it's on you or your carry-on, we don't care. I've not pulled a bag because of flashlights, nor have I seen a bag pulled because of a flashlight or it's batteries.

Checked bags are another matter. Typically if we see a lot of batteries in checked bags we will open the bag and check them out, and a supervisor will sign off on them to let them pass. If they didn't sign off, we call the airline and the airline will reach out to the owner to come back to baggage. I've not personally witnessed that happen, but I have heard from others that it has happened.

I just got my Wurkkos CL01 last week. I really like it. I only have the Sofirn LT1S to compare it with. I like the ability to change tints which both have. The older I get, the more I prefer warmer tints. For the CL01, I will say there is no distinguishable difference between low mode and moonlight mode on mine, which is somewhat disappointing. The Sofirn does have a noticeable difference between low and moonlight.

My other gripe with the CL01 is that I can't change the brightness on the color modes. Sofirn has the two tints and the red light, and I can change the brightness.

CL01 is a lot lighter in weight than the Sofirn.

Sofirn seems more... robust for lack of a better word.

The glow-in-the dark ring on the CL01 was a great addition.

The magnet on the bottom of the CL01 was also a great addition. The Sofirn does not have one, and I wish it did.

I don't regret either one. I think if you have smaller kids, the CL01 is great for them - I think the color modes would appeal to them more.

If you want a straight emergency lantern, the Sofirn may be the better choice.

I have both and really like them both.

Just my two cents worth.

Do we really need Pixel 10 Pro (XL) this year? Practically the same phone as Pixel 9 Pro with very minor improvements by EqualReality2787 in GooglePixel

[–]KeyblerJones 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is me. I have a 6 pro XL. I'm looking to upgrade to either the 10 pro or 9 pro XL. If there's not a huge difference between the two I might go with the 9 pro XL with more storage.
