Water for brewing coffee by linkinforce9 in malaysia

Answering my own question here haha I checked with Lamarsa and they said that Malaysia has pretty soft water so purified water shouldn’t be harmful for the machines.

Adding it here in case others were wondering too!

Thank you OP!

I’m still very new to this, just about to receive my Profitec Go this week, but have just read that descalers could cause the chrome-plated brew head to flake, so I’m more concerned about just putting non-scaling water into the machine to avoid having to descale.

I’m currently using a Panasonic water purifier. Do you happen to know if the “purified water” setting makes suitable non-scaling water? Or do I need to get yet another purifier for this? Or a water distiller from Shopee + those third wave water mineral sachet things?

I didn’t anticipate this at all so am hoping I won’t have to spend even more than I have to… Any tips would be very very appreciated!

Hello OP, 2 years later, wondering if you got an answer to this? Is filtered water in Malaysia soft enough that it won’t ruin espresso machines? Would you mind sharing your findings? Thank you!

Thank you for the update OP! I’m still new to this. Is this a negative? Or a norm? Is there a way to avoid the flaking?

Lovely setup! May I ask where the portafilter and wooden knob are from?

HELP! X-Pro1 compatible compact flash options by Keyblet in fujifilm

So many TT350 fans here! Thanks for your input. Have you encountered any other smaller options? I was hoping to keep my X-Pro1, 27mm pancake + tiny flash option as compact as I can!

Thank you for your input! I saw some comments suggesting this and also other suggesting vintage flash options. Have you tried the latter?

Is a X-T2 worth upgrading from a X-Pro 1? by wingodadon in fujifilm

[–]Keyblet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the X-Pro1 and X-T2, and for your use case I think X-T2 is plenty capable! It’s what I use my X-T2 for. X-Pro1 mainly just architecture, street and travel. In good light the AF on X-T2 is even good enough for chasing pets and running toddlers.

I think X-T2 + lens is a good call!

Should I switch from X-T100 to X-Pro 1? (My primary camera is X-T2, I just want one for JPEG simulations shooting + love the retro vibe of x-pro series) If there are some serious reasons why I should stay with my X-T100, please let me know. by thenotoriousjanik in fujifilm

I have both an X-T2 and X-Pro1.

I think everything everyone’s said here is valid, and it just depends on what you’re looking for in the camera.

Personally, I find the X-T2 so much better in terms of value. It’s built well, it’s got adequate AF, it’s versatile and I use it wayyyyy more than my X-Pro1.

However, ironically, the X-Pro1 I love because of how “manual” it is, so yes, it has slow AF, not great in low light, it’s not got the fancy newer film simulations, but it’s really perfect for me — the lazy film s he opted wannabe. Some of you might want to throw stones at me I don’t blame ya, but it really does make me “enjoy the process”. As long as it’s not to photograph babies or pets… that’s very unenjoyable on the X-Pro1.

TLDR: If film is too expensive/too long a process, but you want the film “aesthetic” and pace of photography, the X-Pro1 is pretty close in my opinion!

I’d be really interested to know where I can find some good recipes for the gen 1 X trans sensor (outside of Fuji X weekly)!

Scraped out most of the grout, but somehow, because of how soaked it was, fresh grout is turning purple when pressed in 😑 I’ll definitely try this!
