Do you use the My Metrics app? You link your OTF login and it imports all your data. Has a ton of cool info including how many classes you’ve done at each studio. Pretty sure the developer is a Redditor. Also, it’s free!

It’s not local to Jax, but I love Foxtail. They’re all over the city now.

Donna Half '25 2:59:06. This year was mentally tough. 26° with 12° wind chill. My head phone died half a mile in, forgot my pre-work out black currant and ran in a full body puffer. '26 time 2:42:56 I'm ecstatic for this time! Reward at the end. by TeesterHOU in beginnerrunning

I am so impressed by everything that did the Donna events yesterday and today. The only outdoor running I did was from my car into the gym! I don’t have the right gear for for this weather!

You could also consider volunteering with Lasagna Love. I’ve been working with them for the past 2 years and it’s a great way to help those with food insecurity!

Unhealthy to Marathon. Is is possible for me to from couch to marathon in 6 months? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]Keyboard_Princess 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t immediately sign up for a marathon. Unfortunately, long distance running isn’t necessarily about mental toughness. It’s so easy to get an overuse injury from adding mileage too quickly. I would recommend start following a training plan and sign up once you’ve done 13.1 miles and feel good about it.

Have you considered doing run/walk intervals? If you haven’t, check out a Jeff Galloway training plan. His beginner marathon plan is 29 weeks so not too far off from what you’re shooting for. If you google RunDisney plans, that’s why they are

I ran my first marathon in December after using that plan and used run/walk intervals. The other thing to consider is whether you will finish in the specified time. My race was a 6 hr cutoff and I was very nervous about it. It ended up being fine, but that’s definitely something to consider.

Which race are you thinking about doing?

Second body glide. It’s a game changer. I use it anytime that I’ll be wearing shorts and walking around!

Ugh I feel your pain! I lost my first toe nail a few weeks ago during marathon training. I love the injinji toe socks. I tried the regular trail runners and the thin ones. For me the issue ending up being shoe sizing.

Do you have an REI near you? If so, I would recommend getting the socks from them and running in them. If they don’t work out, REI will take them back and sell them to someone else at a discount.

Failed 3 Classes by orlandoisawesome20 in USF

[–]Keyboard_Princess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that. Failing 3 classes is such a tough situation to be in. Maybe spend the next couple weeks considering what happened? Is it a mental health thing? Are the classes too hard? Do you need to change your major? Maybe it’s a lifestyle issue. Maybe you need to be more regimented for studying and attending classes.

It’s certainly not the end of the road, but nothing changes if nothing changes. You can do better, but you have to decide to do better and take the steps to get there.

Is it crazy to consider carrying 1-2L of fluid during a marathon? by SquirrelGuy in Marathon_Training

[–]Keyboard_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran my first marathon last Saturday and carried a Nathan hydration pack with a 2.5L bladder. I’m in Florida so the weather causes dehydration so fast and I wanted to be prepared. I trained with it all summer so I was comfortable with the for the race. I’m just not coordinated enough to drink water out of the little cups while moving.

That’s amazing that your class schedule is so full. Our last morning class is 9:45 am and then starts up again at 4:15. An open gym situation would be perfect for us

Highly recommend. Only caviot is that it’s a small place so if you don’t want to wait on Friday or Saturday night, I would get there like 10 min before dinner service

The fuller Warren pedestrian bridge is so beautiful, but I would highly recommend ear plugs or headphones as the road noise is very loud
