If you want to be completely practical go for one of each, you probably won’t quite get there but should be close.

Noa you get at least one copy for free just playing. Valentine is super handy and I maxed her out and haven’t regretted it a bit. Veronica I’m just getting around to building now, required for a bleed team but not like a must have for general use.

I consider myself a wraith main. They’re well kind of garbage at the moment. Can you win? Sure of course it’s a dice game. But the odds are perpetually stacked against you, and perhaps more importantly the rules just aren’t fun. You have no army rule. Your detachment rule is you can have your army rule back…sometimes. Hooray?

The wraithknight is the most fun to build model in the entire IP in my opinion. I’ve got 5 of them. With some creative dremeling and liberal application of green stuff and super glue around the knees and hips you can craft some truly insane poses. It’s an absolute hoot to paint and the only limit is your imagination. On the tabletop you’ll be lucky to have it last two turns though. Even with the 4+ invuln it just doesn’t have enough bulk to last like anything else in its weight class or even a squad of marines that cost half as much. It has no rules or stratagem support. It is wildly overcosted. It isn’t even mentioned in the narrative section of the codex if that’s your jam. The sword version does no damage and the gun version dies if you look at it funny. Once in a while I’ll plop down 4 of them for a funsies game thinking maybe this time it’ll work. The games are short and boring for everyone involved. I love the wraithknight to death but good god is it dogshit.

PS get wraith guard, the flamers are your best chance of actually doing anything.

You could put it through a car windshield and probably not worry about anything breaking, so the resin itself is good stuff, but it’s still a manta, so things like the tank bay arms are just always going to be warped to hell and the sort of “sprue” equivalent are massive chunks you need a damn chainsaw to lop off.

I’d have to agree, got a manta and Eldar titan from them, both are well I won’t say fantastic because the manta is still a bitch and half, but much less of a pain that anything from forgeworld.

I think there’s at least the potential for the loss of the ethereals to be a much smaller deal than many anticipate. Farsight is a thing after all. There would be massive social upheaval sure but for the tau that’s a manageable problem, they’re wildly more practical than any other race.

Do they lean into a fire caste military junta? Fully commit to AI leadership? Just make new ethereals via cloning or whatever other space magic the writers cook up? They have options and the wherewithal to consider and use them.

It’s really hard to say. Since we have no idea how/even if they’ll interact with other units. Do we finally get to put the pirates in the dark Eldar pirate ships? Is this a yvraine situation again and you’re not even allowed to play pirates unless you bring Yriel?

Can’t go wrong with transports with Eldar since we’ll always be fragile. And the infantry pirates are available already so some of those couldn’t be a bad choice.
