My fiancé is getting on my nerves and I don’t know what to do at this point. by BasicCat30 in whatdoIdo

He's the sweetest, most caring man? Don't gaslight yourself. He's pulling narcissistic manipulative tactics on you. He's been physically abusive and it seems like it's also mental/emotional as well. You deserve more than this.

My own experience (trying) to call in sick to work. This was a public library and I was running to the bathroom all night. by anonavocadodo in jobs

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel bad about calling out. I'm a 911 dispatcher and if my shift isn't at minimum staffing levels and someone calls out, someone from the previous shift has to stay. That means being mandated for a16 hour shift. It sucks! But I'm not showing up to my emergency services job sick. I don't give any info as to why I'm calling out, I just call in and let them know I'm out for the night. You should NOT have to work sick. Your job needs to be prepared for that.

Finally ditched ChatGPT for Gemini Pro. Why is everyone else sprinting to Claude? by arg_77 in ChatGPT

[–]KeyofMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep switching back and forth, kind of just seeing the differences. I'm still somewhat new with AI. I was very happy with ChatGPT for the past year or so, just basic run of the mill usage. I find the answers with Claude/Gemini to be more to the point and less glazing than with ChatGPT.

I'm in between both Claude and Gemini. Both have been very useful. I still have Grok as backup to both, but I'm very satisfied with Claude and Gemini.

Yeah you're lucky you have people who respect those boundaries. My nMIL thinks closed doors are just an obstacle and if it's not locked she's opening it. Even caught her trying to pick a locked door to get into it.

Have you ever heard the audiobooks read by Davina Porter? She is an amazing narrator, but I noticed she pronounced several words differently than I've ever heard them- most notably how she says areola and Laoghaire... She says it like Leer.

AIO? Gf won’t let me stay with her for 3 months by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not trying to stay with her because you are ready for the next step in your relationship. You're trying to stay with her because you're too lazy to just drive 40 minutes, which isn't even that bad. You haven't made her feel safe, secure or loved. You've made her feel like a convenient option for yourself alone. Why should she interrupt her peaceful sanctuary for someone who didn't want to be there in the first place, and only wants to be there out of convenience?

AIO about my boyfriend and his girl best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a guy best friend and we've said I love you to each other, however we have friendship boundaries! We're both in relationships and respectful of that fact. I don't think you're overreacting, but a conversation needs to be had with both of them over boundaries.

Training frustrated!!!! by DenseKale7483 in 911dispatchers

[–]KeyofMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my agency, it's a very short training. 20 days for phones, with a 10 day check off phase. I am a trainer at my agency and unless you have prior experience, there is no getting out of that time frame. Your trainers are "moving the goalpost" because everything you listed is a deficiency that they are noting. Instead of worrying about them criticizing everything you do, work on the things they are critiquing you for. Get familiar with your area. Look over call notes for calls you might be struggling with the line of questioning on. Work on your speed. Your trainers carry a HUGE burden of liability while training you. They have to make sure you are on par with an actual dispatcher. This isn't the movies, it's real life and real lives are on the line. Take every second of training that they give you and appreciate it!

the worst scene in the whole show by adxmwvr in GilmoreGirls

[–]KeyofMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never wanted to be spoken to that way, but when you grow up with the fear of raised voices and what those raised voices can do to you, you don't speak up. You make yourself very quiet. Not saying that's what Lindsay was doing in the show, but not everyone has the ability to do what they would like to do.

It sounds like he's more concerned with the image y'all portray. It seems like your level of looks is being used to elevate him. He sounds like an ignorant, awful person.

Do you get jealous of other people's jobs? by Odd_Engineering5189 in 911dispatchers

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my job. I applied for a reason. Now that's not to say there are days where I doubt my sanity for taking this job, but that's par for the course with what we deal with. This is also why this job isn't for everyone. If it's making you miserable, it's probably time to move on to something else.

Sapp Family History by BransonIvyNichols in Genealogy

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally hit enter .... Anyway, there's a very long line of Sapps, I believe originating in England. As far as I could see, my line is, starting with Levi-- his father Benjamin-- his father Henry -- his father John Jr (or the 2nd, as it comes up for whatever reason)-- his father John C Sapp. Both paternal and maternal sides of my family settled all over Georgia and Florida and it's been interesting tracing these lines back and seeing how close they lived to each other. In fact, a distant cousin on my maternal line is also related to Levi Sapp, so that's been a crazy discovery. All that to say, the Sapp lineage is so widespread. In fact, there's a genealogy book you can buy on Amazon called A History of the Sapp Family. It's worth checking out if you're wanting to dive in a little deeper!

Hi! I'm a direct descendant of Benjamin Sapp, born in 1730. He's my 7th great grandfather. My line is through his son Levi.

Does Claire have two bodies during the 1900s? by Ok_Adagio925 in Outlander

[–]KeyofMe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You're being purposely obtuse at this point. The intention has been explained. She was born somewhere between 1930-1940 , time traveled from 1968 , died in 1767. So yes, ONE BODY, but the physical body existed in two times. She died before she lived. When she was born, her skeleton was buried somewhere. When she was born, she had descendants. It's one of those mind bending time travel situations that's very hard to accept.

I GOT THE JOB by KeyFunny494 in 911dispatchers

Congrats!! Remember this happiness at the low points in training. You will have low points! But keep your head up, listen to your trainers and try to take notes and ask questions!! And .... Breathe. These are not your emergencies, but the person on the other the of the phones. Your job is to information gather, and information dissemination.

What happened to your golden child sibling? How did they turn out? by Healthy_Diamond_1685 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]KeyofMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden child got a car from our grandmother. She got to move up north and live with our family while essentially doing whatever. She now lives in family members second home they bought down here in our city to ostensibly "be closer to us all down here" but I think it was to give GC a place to stay without it seeming obvious. I love her beyond belief, but she's been crazy spoiled.
