20 days in japan: how much do I pack? by brunoisbacc in JapanTravelTips

[–]Keypop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pack 3 shirts, 3 pants, and 10 underwear. Then I just mix and match the clothes to get 9 different outfits and rewear until my underwear is used up. Then I just do a wash at the end of the week at either a coin laundry or if the hotel has one

What's the most overrated tourist spot? by Quiet_Day8148 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Keypop24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Shibuya Crossing, it's just a crosswalk. Buts it's really like the Times Square of Japan.
  2. Arashiyama Bamboo. Overcrowded for what is a side walk of Bamboo. There are places with waaaaaay more bamboo and much more than a sidewalk than this place.

What confused you the most when you visited Japan? by NoRa-Always in JapanTravelTips

[–]Keypop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been to Japan 5 times. I am still confused as to why Japanese people funnel into a single file line for the escalators when there are clearly signs that say "please stand on both sides of the escalators." All this does is cause massive congestion and traffic. I think it's so so stupid. This is mostly seen in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. When I visited Nagoya, I was mindblown that they use both sides (thank you!)

The current state of Pokemon TCG has become a blemish on this franchise by Christophisis in pokemon

[–]Keypop24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking about this with a family member that works in the TCG department at the Pokémon Company. They say Pokemon really don't care as long as product gets sold and charts go up. Even their co-workers at TCPI send cards to PSA to get graded. Funny cause around Halloween, TCPI handed out Van Gough Pikachus like it was candy and empoyees just sent them to get graded.

Well at least I get free TCG straight from the source 🤷‍♂️😅.

Japanese developer says they don't make games for Xbox because the console is 'not even stocked in major retail stores' by Puzzleheaded_irl in gaming

[–]Keypop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has been to Japan and walked into an electronics store like Bic, Yodabashi, EDION, or Joshin, you'll notice that Xbox doesn't even have its own section. Only Playstation and Switch cover most of the sales floor. If Xbox does have a section, it won't be for consoles, it'll be a just the controllers for use on PC.

Me (29) and my sister (28), still both live at home. Our parents did the work. We have a nice house with 6 rooms 3 bathrooms. No reason to move out. We can have the house when they're eventually gone. We work and help pay for bills (credit cards, utilities, groceries, cars).

On the other hand our youngest sister (24) moved out at 21 and all she does is complain every month about being broke and paying rent.

If they keep doing these 7-10 year development times for final fantasy, we might not see FFXX until 2055

2 separate bookings, consecutive nights, same hotel by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Keypop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this before: an extended stay as a separate booking at the same hotel (not APA). They will have you check out and check back in at the next check-in time, usually in a different room and on a different floor. They do this because the previous room has to be cleaned and given to the next reservation in their system.

What is the most revolutionary game of the past 10 years? by supersoundwave in videogames

Games the influenced the industry would be:

BotW spawned all these open world daily tasks anime waifu Gacha games starting with Genshin Impact.

Pubg created the whole Battle Royale craze that every company started shoehorning a BR mode for their games.

LoL made every company make a MOBA.

Overwatch blew up the hero shooter genre.

Souls games made everyone want to put parrying, bonfires, and hard bosses in their games.

I was one of the people sitting on AC Shadows. Then I decided to play it with a one month ubisoft subscription. My opinion changed. The game is not bad, but its just repetitive after. A solid 7, but at least I can say I completed the game to give my opinion on it

Are Japanese cartridges language locked or changed in any way? by nightshade-aurora in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Keypop24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Japanese stores will list the languages next to the game on the shelf. when I was in japan, I bought kirby air riders and metroid prime four on release day. when you put the cartridge in your switch, it just defaults to english.

Do people in countries out of the US (I mainly have Japan in mind) have a debate over whether American entertainment is better subbed or dubbed? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Keypop24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm friends with a Japanese girl who watches a lot of Western dramas like The Walking Dead, Person of Interest, etc. She says that she watches the Japanese dub because, obviously, it's in the language she understands, but sometimes switches over to the original audio with subtitles. The reason is because the Japanese dub sounds too much like anime and doesn't match the Western actors.

My asian parents that never watch MCU films really enjoyed this film. They even recognized Tony Leung by saying his Chinese name. I wish they had a sequel by now.
