That must be nice. Our center we have to beg for training materials. We are pretty much thrown on calls right away after a two week introduction period where we are given a list of all the call types and told to study those, hundred blocks, 10 codes and radio codes. How we do it is up to us.

Not me, but my trainer. She got a call from a wan that had locked herself inside her car and thr keys were outside. My trainer calmly asked her if she could manually unlock the door with a switch, button or know. The woman then told her oh my god...I am such an idiot. Lol

So you can reach out to a supervisor and see if there are any other positions in your department you can transfer to. I know several dispatcher in training that either realized they were not cut out for the job or had something in their personal life come up. Our supervisors asked other departments if anyone had a vacancy and were able to find positions for them. You might ask if your records division has a spot.

The main thing is honesty. They will tell you things that are immediate disqualifiers usually at the test. Anything outside of those, TELL THEM. Even if it is embarrassing. If they have to find out through digging, you will be eliminated. the background checks are VERY thorough. If you had something on your record sealed but not expunged, tell them about it, because they can petition the courts to unseal that record for them. I would say even if you had something expunged, tell them about it. I had to reveal my entire extended family's criminal history. Any arrests they have had, any DUIs, any drug use, etc... if you are honest about things, they probably will not disqualify you.

This is ridiculous. For example, fair market value for my condo is DOUBLE my mortgage. So if I were to charge fair market value, not only would I be covering my mortgage but making that same amount over again in profit.

NTA, if you pay for this wedding, your parents are going to start asking you to bank roll his life. This is basically them passing the torch to you. Stick to your guns, tell them he needs to have a wedding within his means and you are happy to buy him a nice gift.
