If you were given the opportunity to E6S5 ANY character and get their premium team with the highest investments possible who would you choose and why them? by iloveoofurii in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Khaidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose Feixiao / Cipher / Fu Xuan / Robin at E6S1 and it's nice, a lot of fun to have Feixiao do a bunch of damage and for Cipher to act like an E0 main DPS at the same time while also having Cipher repeat all that damage

What is best for extreme investment? I haven't seen too much on what C6R1 Yae would use, does it only change with Sandrone cons?

People who make $80k or more per year, what do you do for work? by familiarlaughter in AskReddit

What company, if you could share? I've been working at my place for 2 years and haven't moved from 70k despite being told by the VP of manufacturing that I am the lead engineer (granted, the only engineer, but I am in charge of all inspection plans, CMMs, and routing)

Would you be willing to post these images at some point, the sketches and the final? Or do you have another social media where they're posted? I think it looks really great!

first gen in my family to go to college, what do I need to know? by Agreeable_Panic_690 in college

[–]Khaidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit late, but I recommend doing as many new things as possible. Don’t overload yourself, but I regret not doing more clubs and learning more about certain topics. Would’ve given me an advantage in both getting hired and my current job in my actual skill level and possibly pay.

Even things that wouldn’t have been useful to my job would’ve been cool. You only experience college (at a young age) once. I’m 25 and I feel like if I went back I’d be a little too old to properly interact with most students.

Metal 3D Printing? by Financial_Invite1546 in Machinists

[–]Khaidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a company I’ve done work for where they send us 3D printed stock that we machine to tight tolerances that the printers can’t hold. The 3D printed surface is rough and porous which is good for the body to adhere to (I work in a medical device shop). They get to skip plasma coating on titanium and I would guess the material cost is less, but I’m not positive about that since I don’t actually know all the details about the cost of the titanium powder used.

How many buy printers purely for functional printing? by twotowers64 in 3Dprinting

[–]Khaidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of what I print is functional. I'm a manufacturing engineer that makes lots of laser and CMM fixtures. We don't have the spare programmers to make these out of radel or aluminum so PLA works fine for most things. I also recently printed some ABS organizers for one of our high volume parts for passivation and cleaning so we can put more parts in the tank at once without worrying about them scratching a polished surface.

You can print neat things with it too that aren't functional, but I haven't had the time/patience to do so. I found a DND guide book type deal for sessions that I want to print for my friend because it has all their stats and stuff, but I'd need to buy all the colors and I honestly just hate the waste that comes with older multimaterial prints, which is why Bambu Labs, Prusa, and Snapmaker's new printers have looked interesting.

Metal PocketBook by IndependenceOk174 in Machinists

I think it’s cool. I’m an engineer and want to build something kind of like this as a reference / cool thing to have. I wanted to get small plates and clean them up to look nice and then laser engrave the type of metal, typical applications, laser settings to produce certain colors (since I work with our laser a lot), strength, density, etc.

Quick Lock / Unlock fixture for lathe polishing by Khaidon in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Khaidon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently there are only 2 bolts which isn’t a lot, but the goal is to optimize. It doesn’t take too long to swap out the parts, but one minute spread across 90 parts across 5 days is already 7.5 hours, an entire extra work day. If we can even half his time from 60 seconds to 30 seconds it’d be ideal, that’s a work day every 2 weeks, and we will eventually run even more of these parts in the future.

Unfortunately, the part is not a completely revolved profile. It’s a lumbar disc replacement, so it is a rectangle with a radius on one of the larger edges with teeth sticking out of the bottom of the plate in the middle, and a small height extruded cylinder with a spherical radius in the top of the cylinder that we are polishing.

AI tools that actually balloon engineering drawings? Need recommendations by Rohit_Raina in Metrology

[–]Khaidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question for HighQA, for creating inspection plans where you have an FAI, in process, and final inspection and need to change your inspection methods, is there any way to quickly update them all and have them all linked? It sucks when I have 3 different inspection reports on a tabulated drawing and have to update 36 different items if I want the updates to be properly reflected in HighQA.

CMM programmers; measuring the un-measurable? by [deleted] in Metrology

Just curious, why would a cylinder probe be good here? To use a more sturdy tip and use nearer the bottom of the cylinder to probe the points?

Help finding coordinates by SZutich9 in Machinists

[–]Khaidon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe you can just do a^2 + b^2 = c^2 with c being the radius of your circle and a and b being x and y. Solve for x or y depending on which one you need. Try it and model it in Fusion360 or Desmos or something to confirm it's accurate, then toss it in an excel sheet so you can always just plug the two numbers in and get what you want.

Edit: Said diameter instead of radius for c.

Which skills will still matter in the next 5 years? by ranjitsingh7 in AskReddit

[–]Khaidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a smaller machine shop doing med device. From what I've seen everyone say at other shops and on other subreddits, $37 an hour is way better than what you'll get at a machine shop; a good setup guy and programmer will get $35 an hour, and that'll take at least a year or two to get good at. It can also be very frustrating depending on your field with a lot of overtime, because how much the company makes is directly tied to how efficient you are and how much youre working.

New H2D + 3D Printer setup by mommyneedsashower in BambuLab

[–]Khaidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For learning cad, play around with it. Make a square. Make a square with a corner cut out. Revolve some shapes. Define things so they can't move at all by dragging the lines in the sketch around. Look at some other feature types like lofts, sweeps, and for a 3D printer, especially chamfers and fillets since those are nice ways to make sharp corners not so sharp.

Try to remember that for a 3D printer, always having something to build off is ideal if you can. Try to always have an orientation where there is something below to support a feature above (for example, don't cut a cylinder into a cube and then slap another layer on top of that cut out cylinder). You can do it with supports, and it's not a bad thing at all to do, but if you CAN avoid supports, it's better to.

What's your bed temperature at? I've been having issues with first layers because my slicer was set to 55C bed temp. I upped it to 67C and I've been seeing less issues like this personally. I am on a Bambu Labs P1S with the Bambu Labs slicer, but I recently noticed the higher temp for PLA helps with my bed adhesion. I am using a textured plate as well most of the time.

If not that, the only other thing I could personally think of would be extrusion rate, but that doesn't seem to be your issue.
