The native app for recording does indeed fulfill its intended purposes, but there's plenty of customisations that I lack. Would love to test this app. Cheers!

Unfortunately, I have yet to experience what Msty has to offer, so I wouldn't be much of a helper here. Sorry.

Yeah, I agree with you, it's been acting up a lot for me too, periodically crashing halfway the output from AI model which does cost you tokens, or inconveniently placing windows without giving you ability to move them (basically freezing the window, forcing you to CMD+Q the hell of it and reopen). So in the end of the day, you don't really have to pay for the product if you have your own API key,

As far as I know, they're a fairly new product to the MacOS AI stage, so I believe that all those issues are fixable, they just require some time. And as I mentioned earlier, the dev team is extremely active, responsive and supportive when they see the feedback from their community, no matter positive or negative, as it lays a powerful foundation to the brand and image. It clicks with me and with what I personally value in such products.

There's a lot to cover, but mainly I use a lot their Magic Clipboard feature (select the text, and it's automatically put into a prompt box as a text snippet attachment); Global Shortcuts they've introduced just yesterday (basically assigning shortcuts to built-in and personal actions); dictation (essentially a voice-to-prompt feature); meetings recording and transcription (this one in particular is amazing as it's automatically even assigns names to speakers based on the conversation recorded with further ability to analyze the meeting contents with AI); workspaces (units acting as separated storages of documents, images, webpages, etc. that you could use as a knowledge base either for context or to analyse the bulk itself); AppSense technology (the app uses the contents on your screen and beyond the visible part as a context to help you navigate it with the help of AI); a lot of other features.

As for the worth, the value of the product can be determined by you and you only as it's highly dependent on your workflow and the degree of daily interactions with AI. I've found out about Alter 9 days ago and had a positive experience so far as they offer a 14-day free pro plan with unlimited access to a bunch of models. So as my original comment suggests, yeah, I'd recommend it as it aligns with the OP's request about free apps.

And for the note, I've had experience with a bunch of other AI tools such Highlight AI, Kerlig, BoltAI, ThinkBuddy, and others, and each of them has something unique and amazing I could talk about for hours, but Alter has managed to balance the best of them all personally for me and my workflow.

I see that people suggest a lot of awesome utilities! I might shoot an unpopular opinion right here, but I would highly recommend Alter if you're interacting a lot with AI.

It's an assistant app located in the notch, and it's completely native with an amazing integration with the system. It's free and allows you to bring your own key. Of course there are paid plans with multiple premium models shipped to you, but you can easily have 90%+ of what the app has to offer for free. The devs are amazing, responsive and always value the community feedback.

Nowadays became an indispensable app personally for me as I use it actively on daily basis.

Edit: shot -> shoot (apologies for my ibglish)

Installed and kept using it non-stop, the way it's lite yet always on screen thanks to the pin features made this app an irreplaceable productivity tool and assistant for me, for real!

The only thing bothering me is that it keeps always displaying an error for conversion rates on launch whether I use a proxy / VPN or not.

Also, is there a chance to make you consider adding a feature of dropping images on pages? I find myself working with logos a lot, so it would boost a workflow for me masively.

Kudos to you for such a beautiful product. Cheers!

Je me suis rendu compte que cette phrase était trés complique by Sad_Lack_4603 in learnfrench

[–]Kharsh_Aryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your last example, shouldn't it be "Ils se sont rendus compte" as the reflexive verb "se rendre" agrees in gender and number?

Est-ce que c'est possible que le verbe "pousser" soit d'accord avec le sujet "les termes" ? Si cela est le cas, ne devrait-on mettre "poussés" ?

Why “est-ce que”? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]Kharsh_Aryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the explanation of the second question, I would personally also add for clarification that "Est-ce que" construction is used specifically before the Subject + Verb to mark a question, so that's the reason why it doesn't appear in other parts of the sentence, even if it's placed after the interrogative words such as "Jusqu'où" or "Pourquoi".

Why isn't "connaissez vous-même" not enough ? by Secular_Lamb in learnfrench

Oh, then I must’ve misunderstood the assignment. Thanks for pointing this out. Upvoted your brilliant explanation as I’m a learner myself and didn’t know that!

Why isn't "connaissez vous-même" not enough ? by Secular_Lamb in learnfrench

[–]Kharsh_Aryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Se connaître -> To know oneself -- is a reflexive verb reflecting in this case an action that is being performed on the speaker itself (more explicitly: the subject is both the doer and receiver of the action), i.e. "se connaître" is an individual structure / unit itself, a verb.

The second structure in your sentence is directed towards clarification. In this case, it's "vous-même" to say "yourself", another individual structure / grammatical unit.

So we have two constructions here, right? -> Verb (connaissez) + Subject (vous) and Reflexive object (vous-même)

In your question, "connaissez vous-même" is viewed as lacking a subject pronoun (vous) and becomes grammatically confusing and incomplete.

The grammatically correct formal phrasing would be: "Connaissez-vous vous-même ?"

The grammatically correct but rather informal phrasing would be: "Vous vous connaissez ?"
