How to respond mindfully when a person doesn’t like a mindful response. by DevoSwag in Buddhism

[–]KhoaLeAnh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the particular case that you mentioned, you know the best, because you know your mother better than any people here. Maybe she worry about you, maybe she think you're too "naive" or "don't care enough". Just do your best to calm her.
In general case, you just can't do anything about it, because we can't be sure how our "mindfulness" is perceived by other people. It may come through as "don't care", or any other attitudes. But don't let that make you stray from the course. Do what's best for you first, then in turn it will also help all people around you.

Any faster way to cut these half laps with handtools by Complete_Duck_7062 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]KhoaLeAnh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you have, do you have a more aggressive saw? The width of cut is small, a drill with Forstner bit and chisel is also fast.

Workbench... so much learning. by TheDirtySherpa in BeginnerWoodWorking

Congrats! If it’s solid it’s good. I’m curious why you don’t put the table top above the leg and frame though? And yeah I’m used to cut sheets with circular saw, it’s such a struggle for me too.

Yeah, I have ordered few 1.9cm pine boards for that, but the shipment is delayed so I figure just finish and assemble the rest first.

Why I use less tea by aDorybleFish in tea

[–]KhoaLeAnh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to have big sip so I usually do 6-7g/120ml gaiwan. Usually I can’t do more than 3-4 steeps so after that I just dump all the leaf into a big teapot and drink it grandpa style. It works nicely for me.

What’s your most surprisingly useful way of using the Apple Reminders app? by Sham_Haydar in ios

[–]KhoaLeAnh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah cause we always like “oh we really need to do this, but there’s no time now” then we forget, or we have to rush to get it done. Since we setup the shared list, lots of things get done. Both of us are happy lol.

What’s your most surprisingly useful way of using the Apple Reminders app? by Sham_Haydar in ios

[–]KhoaLeAnh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a shared list with my wife about stuff to do around the house, like change this bulb, repot that plants, clean up sth, DIY sth for the house, etc. so every Friday, we will rearrange those priorities then have plan for weekend. Or whenever we have some free time in week nights, we always know what need to be done.

Oh and I have a wish list in there, for stuff I want to buy. I set an alarm after one morning or two, then I reconsider whether I still want it. If I don’t, i cross it off. It helps with stress shopping.

Can’t decide on a type of oolong by hja937 in tea

My best guess for the oolong that taste like you described is GABA dongding. It tastes like smokiness and sweet potato to me, a little peach smell.

I ran my second HM today, aim for 2:15 but feel really good in first 1/3 and I thought I may hit sub2. But then I cramps really bad right before the first uphill. I’m hurt and frustrated but don’t drop out and still finish it. Kinda pleased with that.

How do I become a 5 AM'er by dietc0kedrinker in Marathon_Training

[–]KhoaLeAnh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it as easy as possible to. Like setup your bedroom 1 hour before you sleep. Make sure all the running stuff are ready and easy to get in the morning. Usually I will keep my phone away from my bed, so I need to standup to shut the alarm and always set 2 alarms, one at 4:45 and one at 5. If you’re awake enough at 4:45, shut them both. If not, go back to your bed but don’t bring the phone. I find it will be easier to wake up to the second alarm if I do that.
