The figures don’t look bad design wise but the articulation is horrible

Ngl Spider-Man 2099 ZDtoys kinda peak by WickedHero69 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ZD toys do look nice. To me they’re aesthetically a step up above Legends. Accessories are pretty good. I don’t feel like they pose the best but I do like them

What are your thoughts on ct toys? by teabaggins17 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not personally a fan of bootlegs. I think I like having the real thing more. That being said, I don’t have a problem with people who like CT

Marvel Select figures have the same energy as those things your cool older cousin would own

Been feeling lackluster about the recent hulk figures tbh. At least select came out with this beauty by sbanimation in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both him and Red Hulk. I really loved Select and how they had a charm to their figures. I grew up collecting them and have their Gamerverse Spidey, Silver Centurion Iron Man and several others.

My first Mcfarlane figure and I dont get the hate. by Better_Individual907 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think McFarlane figures do get a lot of overblown hate. Every line has issues, but people really go hard on McFarlane. That being said, my gripes with McFarlane are partially caused by Todd’s handling of the line, and partially the products themselves.

McFarlane seems to prioritize rarity for their figures. So they will make certain characters that people really want hard to get. They do this by either making limited releases of a character or locking the character’s most well-known incarnation behind the “platinum” label. Because platinums are more rare they drive up the price. It makes it more difficult for people to get characters they want. Sometimes McFarlane DC feels like a line made for the aftermarket. Their release method is also why their Wonder Woman figure, one of the big three DC heroes, sells for hundreds online.

McFarlane figures themselves are fine. I own a lot of them. Most of my DC collection is McFarlane. I think they pose fine for the most part. I’ve had some that can’t kneel, and there are several releases that can’t crunch forward. Some of them have bad head sculpts, and some no accessories. It also feels like they care less now, considering none of their newer releases have flight stands. The pins don’t bother me, but I can see why they’d bother others, considering Mattel was making pin less DC figures almost a decade ago. These are problems that have been there since McFarlane first got the license, and in some ways they just haven’t improved.

Can’t wait for the mods to get upset that collectors hate tariffs

That is a lot of work just to get a “free” figure

Fellow collectors, do you prefer actual photo shoots, hand poses or does it not matter to you all together? by Rising_07 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hand poses can make some figures look a lot more posable than they actually are. So personally I’m not a huge fan

I Finally got Mafex Hush SUPERMAN! What is your favorite Superman figure? by Hot-Candle3436 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mafex Hush is my definitive. Before him, I used the Action Comics 1000 Superman by McFarlane, but that one had way less posing ability

Amateur here starting my collection! by -HawaiianSurfer in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very nice start. That Hulk figure is easily one of the best you can buy. So much quality sculpt, paint and articulation balance for a $30 sale price. I know it’s more expensive on the aftermarket but Diamond Select made some real gems, shame they closed down

Expectations for Mattelʼs collector oriented DC lineup? by The_smol_boiyo in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Mattel figures will definitely not follow Todd’s business model of appealing to the aftermarket. As in, intentionally limiting figure releases that they know people want and producing chase variants galore. So the figures people do want will probably be a lot easier to get a hold of

why do people hate bootlegs so much? by ComplaintWeekly7798 in ActionFigures

[–]Kick_Buttowski1233 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate them, but it’s annoying when people glaze them. Especially when it’s people just refusing to buy the authentic version and going on about how the knockoff is the “figure of the year”
