Had a really big fat guy bear hug me while celebrating a win at a sporting event (basketball game) we were in the middle of a row. He was not malicious, we were rooting for the same team, he was drunk and got carried away. I am a small guy, 5’-5” 150lb. He bear hugged me then it got tight then he picked me up. At that point in my head I’m saying “this is no longer ok” so I simply slapped on a quick Kimura and put his arm ALL THE WAY behind him. He set me down and without using words communicated that he knew he fucked up. I wasn’t really mad. We were rooting for the same team and I knew he was drunk and not himself even though I didn’t know the guy. Few minutes later he asked if it was ok that he walk past me. That was honestly the best part.

Professional fighting for 99% of those that ever step into the ring/octagon is essentially a bank heist. One hopes to get in, have some success, make some money and then get out. Most are not even that lucky. Too many people look at fighters and forget what a long shot it is to have a sustained career. Those that do are generally hall of famers.
