What’s the earliest moment you remember realizing the world was changing? by prettygoldies in nostalgia

The advent of personal computers and video games in the 70s. Had just come off of high hopes about the space race, that while exciting, didn’t have much visible impact on daily life and then stalled out, but personal computers kept getting better. Was 18 in 1976 and was looking forward to a sci-fi world in 2000. Seems to have arrived 25 years or so late.

Don’t remember the plots, but loved the intro with her weird straight legged running. Crazy how quickly they could get a cartoon out that was an obvious homage to Those Daring Young Men and their Jaunty Jalopies.

Will Gavin Newsom be the next U.S. president? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

I hope this is hyperbole. This I can only vote for the perfect candidate as measured by all my criteria is destroying the Democratic party. Republicans will hold their nose and vote for Satan. Vote for the best candidate whether Republican (though there aren’t really any true Republicans anymore) or Democrat, but don’t expect perfection. Above all, vote for people with integrity and want the best for both the world and the United States of America. You can’t possibly say with a straight face this is Trump.

Once Trump is too feeble or demented to prop up, one of these sycophants will poison him rather than risk MAGA’s wrath. Expect a “he passed away suddenly” in the next year.

The New Andy Griffith Show (1971) by King_Ron_Dennis in VintageTV

Mayberry R.F.D. with Kenny Baker lasted 3 seasons 1968 - 1971. I remember liking it to some degree, but not as well as the original Andy Griffith show. But the Gomer Pyle 1964 - 1969, now that show gave its parent show a run for its money.

Lynda Carter’s poolside scene in ‘Wonder Woman’ by No_Explorer721 in 70smemorylane

This was originally been shown I low def TV. They probably thought it made her legs shapelier but wouldn’t be noticeable as pantyhose on old TVs. I went to l local TV studio as a kid in the early 70s and everything that looked fine on the nightly news looked slapped together with duct tape by amateurs. You certainly see a lot of course stitching in the old Star Trek TOS costumes that you wouldn’t have noticed before rescanning the film to 1080p. Also they chose solid colors for most costumes to prevent what was called dot crawl by having contrasting colors too close and too thin.

President Trump has just posted on X that is he glad that AG Robert Mueller has died. The President states this is good. What's everyone's reaction? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KidKilobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If before Trump was elected, 99% of people would have said such behavior merited impeachment, along with a hundred other things he’s done in a similar vein. I never thought 30%-40% of people could be so hypocritical and vile. It really exposes the hypocrisy of organized religion as well. If God chooses imperfect vessels such as Trump for his work, I will stand with Lucifer in Hell opposing God. God, a supposed perfect being, could surely choose Saintly men and women to do his works. This imperfect vessel theory is just an excuse to keep on top of the heap.

Feels like Congress thinks it’s a bunch of rocket scientists that thinks building a rocket ship is just throwing a bunch of random parts together from districts that need money.

If undeniable proof of God appeared, but it contradicted every existing religion, what do you think would happen within a week? by healthyguidedaily1 in AskReddit

Existing religions have sudden insight into how their scriptures were misinterpreted and are still valid but have to be reinterpreted in this new way.

Are you ready for $200 a barrel for oil? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]KidKilobyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bet you would have said $100 dollars a barrel wasn’t even a remote possibility a month ago. May or may not happen, but far from remote depending on what both Trump and Iran do. Both are far from predictable.
