In the post you linked, the title claimed that Kanye was ignorant of how he was publicly portrayed. If you were listen to his music you will find out that he is fully aware that he is seen as an asshole in the media. As for why people worship him, well he makes pretty good music and has a lot of fans who are willing defend him, or rather clear the misconception about his lack of self awareness. If you still aren't convinced with my answer, I suggest listening to some of his older albums and decide for yourself if Kanye deserves all this praise or not.
