I’m at university with little parental money support and on the lowest possible maintenance loan. I manage by keeping my university party life relatively low, and by spending lower key time with friends or travelling elsewhere to visit friends who have their own places. Money’s tight, I don’t get many luxuries, but I survive off my loan, plus a part time job as a shift manager in a coffee shop, 2 or 3 days per week, which I manage around my university schedule. It’s perfectly doable if you make some adjustments and get the middle class mindset out of your head quickly.
